Quite a dilemma here *drama*

I'm thinking of either shelling out about 200$ to upgrade my pc from 2GB ram and probably an external HD. That would make it:

2.53g regular P4
2GB ram
Radeon 9600XT 128MB
200+GB HD.

Highly technically, that's good enough for Vista. But now that Halo2Vista is out and I'm killing to play it this summer. But taking a look at the minimum specs, my processor BARELY meets the reqs and i need a new video card, which means probably another 200$. Plus, new card equals more power, so probably need to buy a new PSU.

Should i upgrade or just get a new compy?

Btw hi guys.

upgrades will cost way less. besides that, it's fun to build a pc.

Buy components and build a new one. It's cheaper.

Do you even have the means to buy online (paypal, credit card, etc)?

If not, you're screwed, because store-bought PCs and parts are sold at exhorbitant prices. They're still selling Radeon 9250's for $100 Canadian here.

Not if you have stores such as this in your city:

Buy Parts Online
Don't buy parts online you already have (and dare you to spent $$$ to upgrade a 6600RPM HDD to a 7200RPM HDD;same goes for CD/DVD Drive)
:)

Upgrade your mobo first, because you want to be sure your new parts will work with your setup.

I'd get a totally new Rig If I was you... The 9600 just doesn't cut it nowadays..

And like others said... buy new parts online... that's the easiest way to do things..

A 9250 for $100 Canadian? (Anyways, the Canadian and US dollars are gettin' pretty close these days)

I know a couple of stores around here that are (GASP) selling 9250s for $200! That's f***ing insane! Anyways, it is definitely a better idea to build your own if you're in the position to do so. I'm not in that position, but for those that are, it's the way to go.

If I recall, I don't think Bathroom has stuff like paypal or credit card or anything similar, so he can't buy online unless daddy and mommy let him use it.

If not, he really is out of luck. I know a few people who are bitching because they aren't allowed to buy stuff online, or they just can't, and therefore they can't get the good deals.

Bathroom bought his 9600XT in 2004 for $170 USD I think (that was the price at Fry's then). But even in 2004, the 9600 was "old," with the Geforce 6 series and Radeon X series dominating the group (lulz Geforce 6800 Ultras were the rage in 2004).

Buy one, then send it to me. It's the only way.

Heh, should have seen this run down store out in Acton (aka big desert) that was selling boxed Voodoo 5s for $200.
And upgrade, you can pimp your system out after you make it awesome.

Pimping it out is synonymous with making it awesome. Actually, pimping it out is making it awesome. And to finish, pimping out would be upgrading. Overhauling would be a new system.
:D

I recommend a new system. It is a better investment.
