Hey guys, Ive been helping a friend of mine now that I finally got the hang of the whole 3ds max level creation. I got him up to the point where he has to compile and light.. its suppose to run everything through a command prompt... Well, his command prompt pops up but then disappears.

Any ideas?

use the Halo 2 Map Editor tool

Located C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2 Map Editor

and run Halo_2_Map_Editor_Launcher.exe

under "Specific Tasks" click "level Compiling" and Select Light Only- if you already compiled the map or its just as easy to "Compile and Light"

Then select light quality testing low but you want to run super before releasing it.

Last click Compile Level button

And you are done with compiling and light maps.

Until you need to compile the cache file. (AKA- .map)

Hey guys, making your text red and centering it does not make me want to read it anymore than if it had been normal... Well, it actually makes me want to read it less, but I don't know why.

Any ideas?

I had to actually stick my face right up to my monitor to tell that text was red after you said that. Yay for color blindness!

Next fool that makes a topic with all their shit centered is getting their crap deleted. That is all :)

Well, thats how I usually post :)

Anyways... When he goes to compile the level the command prompt pops up then goes away... therefor it dosnt complete the process so he can open it in sapein.

I'm going to start calling you Java for now on. I hate Java btw, but doesn't mean I share the exact same hatred with you D:

lol :) r u sure he isnt being stupid and tryign to run tool?
cause if he does that, then it will just pop up and close. CMD.exe shouldnt close. tell him to try and use the run feature. in the search box in your start bar, type run
then systeminfo
and see if anything comes up
if it comes up, then cmd.exe is workin.

Tool is a cmd application that must be run through a command prompt. As you know just run cmd and navigate to tool and run your commands, or copy cmd to tools directory for easy tool access.

How about using that nifty search feature? I hear it's uber-win! Seriously, this has been answered at least 8 times: You MUST run lightmaps before opening in Sapien!

Love how I made a thread about this and it was answered and now its getting asked again rather than being searched.
