I was wondering what are all the special flags in the bitmap tags that need to be set in order for a grayscale bitmap to be compiled as a bump map. Everytime I try to compile one, it just gives me a flat bluish pinkish bitmap with no texture. I have all the flags currently set the same as they would be in H1EK.

i've compiled bumpmaps with the same settings as the h1ek and they work fine. though some of the height values they used in the existing bumps seemed different if i remember correctly.

Edit: yea i checked the height values for a halo 2 normal map and their quite large. The floor normal map i looked at was 5.12. The same normal map in halo 1 was 0.015

Use a height of 5 (it should say height repeating) to test it out, it should look decent.

Thanks! This actually worked out. I didn't realize the height difference would be so dramatic. I usually do bump map height at about 0.015 to 0.05 in h1ek to get them to look descent.

Take your CE value, multiply by 100..ish.

They 're much larger than CE's scale.

Edit: LOL. Didn't hit post, and was beaten to it. :P

In the tool tips, it says 1 would be as high as it is wide. O_o...

I do about 11. I don't check any of the boxes and just use 32 bit height map.

I check the unused box so that it doesn't, for surely doesn't, have any special game render conflicts. Right now I don't have my regular PC, I'm on a laptop rated at 1.0 by vista's experience index. So... I can't do anything.
