View Full Version : Pyramid based map?

Wel, I'm not that good at map-making. In fact, I've only made one map, and it was for HCE... and it sucked.

But to the point.

i had a great map idea for anyone with the free time and the interest. What if somebody made a map of the inside of a pyramid? It could have one big area for fighting, and a couple smaller areas for teams(maybe 2-4).

Then there could be a ladder that leads to the top, where you can get out, and fight on the sides of the Pyramid.

But the ground outside might be hard to finish. there could be a teleporter set up that goes all the map, that teleports a few meters behind the teleporter, so that it feels like you're walking really far out, but you're really close! If anyone's played Super Mario 64, and tried running up the stairs to Bowsers painting, then it's similar to that.

Lol,
That's really detailed for an idea, but if anyone wants to try it, go ahead!

EDIT: If anyone wants to read closely, I said, "for anyone with the free time and the interest". Next time you want to rant, do it somewhere else.

I'll say it kindly before someone says it harshly, if you post idea threads you're begging to get flamed. If you want a map made do it yourself.

the people who actually have skills have plans of their own. don't expect anyone with above adveradge modeling skill to take up your project that you should be figuring out yourself.

you don't even have any sketches. this is completely pointless.

I would make the map if it had a workable theme.
The theme needs to be more then just a pyramid and the floorplan sounds bad.

the idea was okay...but, if you don't want anyone else to make one before you and run you out of ideas, you may want to start learning and making one right away. go little one, Go! go and make that map....

Why not make a map like the one in AVP? they give a full structure model of the pyramid and the frozen dome around it, and everything.....if someone makes an underground map of it.....people would play in it most of the day.............cause...like...there'd be secret ways to get to the bottom where there would be some special object or something, just some cool custom stuff in it to match the movie...but, I'm just dreamin'......Cool idea though...

Donwload an n64 emulator and a pluggin that supports geometry dumping and extract the pyramid level geometry from super mario 64. This is by far nothing that you could ever get to work in game, but you could use it as a modeling reference/layout to build a map based on it.

Or he could read up on a level design book and create a good theme and floorplan so somebody with the tools and knollage to put it in game can do it.

Wasn't that what the author of this (http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=1328) map did? And it turned out okay.

Edited the first post.

Also, Don't act like I haven't read up. I've downloaded tutorials, tried multiple times, but each time, it fails miserably. The last map I tried to make was going well until tool kept giving me errors with the geometry, so I worked for hours trying to fix it, but it kept giving me different errors every time. Then eventually it stopped, and gave me a few errors, and I thought, I'd almost finished it, so I went back into max, imported the damned wrl file, and fixed the last couple errors. I go back to tool, and it gives me more errors!

So, don't think I haven't tried.

Lightning was working on that map and is the original author, but that link right there is a old leak and the reason Lightning stopped working on. Hats off to whoever leaked it.

Now I feel bad, cause that was like the first CE map I played :saddowns:

sorry lightning D:

The pyramid idea doesn't sound bad to me. But then again, I find lovelieness in the strangest things.
