I took Halo 2 Vista back to my local game shop, asking for a trade-in. The guy told me something about having to deactivate my code or other people can't play online. Could someone tell me how to deactivate my code?

The guy at the counter says I need to hand it in on Monday, code deactivated. I think he was maybe talking about the activation code to activate your copy of Halo 2 Vista, I duhno. :confused:

EDIT - Maybe he was talking about the one month trial thingy you get?

O_O

the guy is a moron, return it somewhere else, or wait till someone else is working...

I meant the counter guy, sorry -^___^-;;;;

He's still an idiot D: You don't, nor can you 'deactivate' your account. That also wouldn't hurt others because if something did happen on their end, it's the stores fault for not informing them properly, and they can always call MS.

well... if you do trade it in... then what's to stop you from playing it anyway? You don't need the CD to play. If somebody else installs it with the same key then you prob both can't be online at same time....

I think that's what the guy at the store is referring to. he wants you to deactiviate your CD key so that you can no longer use it and someone else can.
Problem is I don't think that's possible.

Precisely what Microsoft wants. once you buy it, you gotta keep it.

yeah, kinda like operating system return policies. if u open the package, then u cant return it, b/c it's always going to be possible for you to use the product without the disk/packaging/etc

My dad went to take it back today. Lucky enough, the guy who originally served me a few days ago wasn't there. So, my dad just went up to the counter dude and said it was deactivated and he took the game. lol
