I think he's remaking this map (http://www.petersakievich.com/portfolio/3D/HaloCE/Abyss/Abyss.html). And it's got a ways to go before he's finished.

i played the betas. it needs a gigantic structure or something in the middle, though, and a vehicle. oh, and more heavies... specifically rockets, with the speed increased.

uh... you could try the original version (http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=556) for CE, since this one will never make it to CE.

I do hope you know that you can download bloth the Beta map, and the finel map, I've seen them bloth at Halomaps.org, I've played the finel, I like, I think, I don't know any more, it is on my laptop, not my new desktop, but, it is cool looking, good job.

Thanks Arteen and Ghost, I'll keep going on it. I only have a few hours to work on the modeling part of it during the week, though it's helped at work because of the time spent saving files (some files are nearly 2 gigs in size!) I've been able to get most of my ideas sketched out pretty thoroughly which speeds up the modeling process quite a bit. Nothing is final until I'm happy with the final construction.
Stealth, I have no idea what you just said.
Anyway, I figured now would be a good time to get started on it, so that maybe the map will be largely done by the time vista and H2V is out.

I get the feeling it's going to look quite a bit different and he says he's going to make it a touch simpler to figure out. I'm sure it'll be awesome by the time H2V rolls out.

Ya, I was planning on leaving it bright green and brown and somewhere around a 1000 polys, maybe 1500 if I'm feeling generous, and there will be no (count it ZERO) scenery objects in the map.
Tunnels are for losers. I'm going to have a super jump mod going on so walkways will be unnecessary.

got it "in game" in CE for an alpha build. No these are not the final textures, uv's, etc. I just wanted to see how it worked, definitely needs to be narrower and not as long. And there's lots left to do beyond that.
