View Full Version : A few questions about the Windows Live UI

I've asked these questions in multiplayer games but nobody seems to know the answer, or if they do know, they don't bother telling me :)

1) How can I quickly mute someone? For example, Bob's microphone sensitivity is way too low, and everything that plays on his computer's speakers gets broadcast to the whole team. In order to mute him, I have to access his gamercard, right? In between games I can click on his name on the scoreboard, but DURING the game, how can I access his card?
If I open up the LIVE screen and hit players, I figure I should be able to type in a name to bring up a gamer card... but I can't. There is nothing available for me on the players screen. If i want to send a message I can type in their name.. but that doesn't bring up the card.
So here's what I do. I go to the friends tab and and click "add friend." I manually enter their name and submit the invite. Then, I go back to the friends tab, click on their name (which has "friend request pending" next to it), and it brings up their card. I proceed to mute them, and then cancel the friend invite.
It's a major pain and I think there HAS to be an easier way to do it.

2) Why can't I leave reputation for players??? If somebody's on my friends list, then I can "prefer/avoid" them, but if they're not, then the "prefer this player" and "avoid this player" buttons are always greyed out. It says I have to play with them first before I can leave rep. Well, that makes sense, but it still says that even after I play 15 games with that person.

note: I have a silver account, but I don't THINK that would have anything to do with this.

Haha. Go to the 'Players' tab? You can just click their gamercard and hit mute. Your reputation buttons are most likely greyed out as you have a silver account.

Well, of course. But the question is how to ACCESS the gamercard in the MIDDLE of a game. quote: In between games I can click on his name on the scoreboard, but DURING the game, how can I access his card?

And I can give reputation to friends. It never says anything about not being able to give rep without a gold account. Doesn't mean it's not true, but if it were then I don't know why it would let me give rep to friends... maybe it only allows positive rep from silver or something...

That's the players tab.

The players screen is always blank. Nothing there except that "back" and "select" button. Lame.
Is this just because I have a silver account? They've really gone above and beyond in limiting them if that's the case : \
I miss blizzard's battle.net lol.

There is no easy way to do it, unless it's added in a future update. Hopefully it will be based on the Halo3 system of muting people.

it'd be nice if you hit, or shoot some one in the throte you can mute them for the hole game for every one.

Yeah, for PC gamers. Seems they've made it pretty simple for Halo 3.

The easiest way to mute someone (or everyone for that matter) is to turn off your speakers ;>

It really isn't that hard. But for this problem you're having, red, it's quite strange.
