I followed all 2 tutorials on halomaps.org. Even making a simple box map. It compiles the level fine, but when I try to open it in sapien, it gives me "This file is corrupt" error. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Here's what it looks like in the compiler:

--- yeh.ass
processing environment geometry...
### WARNING: Found duplicate shader collection name "shared" in:
c:\program files\microsoft games\halo 2 map editor\tags\scenarios\shader
s\shader_collections.shader_collections

Press any key to continue . . .Is it because the materials or something? I mean I was able to make custom edition maps fine.

edit:
I just went through another video tutorial step by step...again. I'm starting to blame 3ds max 6.

edit: nvm again. I see that max 6 doesn't work with it. I tried 8, it worked.

But, I get to the part where I package the level, how come it doesn't show up in my maps folder?

custom maps go to the documents\my games\halo 2\maps folder

make sure that your box (in max) is a 0,0,0 and your frame (b_levelroot) is at 0,0,0. Now make sure that you link your box to your frame. compile and light with the launcher but for just editing bring the quality down to the worst whicj is checkerboard. This solved my corrupt problems. Ignore most of the warnings b/c the BS the only ones that matter are the ones about shaders but even if they are messued up you will get a rainbow map.

The map shows fine in sapien. But it doesn't "package" the map. It shows the cmd prompt thing for packaging it, but the map doesn't appear in the documents/my games/halo 2/whatevers/maps folder. Could it have anything to do with me adding about 30 banshees to the map?

You got the 'copy to custom folder' checkbox checked?

Just checking :p... Did you try making just a simple testmap (without 3,489,978 banshees and stuff on it) ?

Well I guess I could've got rid of the banshees in the map if it didn't delete itself!:fail:

Ok :eyesroll: any luck on a new map then? I don't have any editor problems at all, gotta get used to it b/c it's somewhat different from ce but getting used to it.

Look in the " Halo Map Editor\maps" folder, and if the map is there copy it to your "Mocuments\My Games\Halo 2\Maps" folder manually.
