View Full Version : My personal H2Vista port of Yoyorast Island.

As I have been told before and am going to follow I am just doing this as a challenge for myself, I am not going to put it up for downloading or anything.
Ok, now that I got that out of the way I kinda of surprised myself when I accomplished the bulk of my goal in about 6 hours, but I still need to make the shaders and add the various things in Sapien.
This is where I currently am, exporting it from 3Ds Max:

I will edit this with the actual game pics when I'm done building it(probably very late tonight or in the early morning).
Without FireScythe's various applications these ports would be MUCH harder :ohsnap:

My stance on this is firm, I will not release it, that is the original Authors job.

I belive you could, my friend easily got in touch with yoyo to ask if he could make a UI of the map. My only concern is the difference in physics.

The difference in physics between Halo 1 and Halo 2.

if your not going to release it then why are you posting about it here.....my guess is that you just want people to beg you to do so....

Does Yoyo know any thing about this? cause I think he's making Yoyo Rast Island V2 for both Halo CE and H2V. :/

Releasing it wouldn't be a good idea.

All I see is a model ripped without Yoyo or my permission. If you want the challenge, then we can't stop you, but you can do it without openly acknowledging it. There isn't really much to be said about "porting" it other than me opening up yoyorast_276.max and exporting as an ASS file. Run it through compiling and lighting and it's essentially done. Shaders is the only thing you'd have to do. If you want a challenge I would highly suggest making your OWN map.

what do you mean you dont know where he heard that? lightning told you someone else was porting it in your other thread.
"one is my H2Vista port of Yoyorast"
Sorry, don't count on it. Yoyorast will not give you permission for that, not to mention he already has someone else doing it.
And that crowd texture is.......well, it's a crowd texture.

That was the same person's thread. Undie made the haloball thread which he stated "one of my ports is yoyorast" and then he made this thread with yoyorast island.

He's not going to release it so I don't see how it affects you. Let him do what he wants. Besides, something like this could be a good learning experience in how to deal with shaders, lighting and the like in H2V. Like you said, the work is practically done for him, so he can conveniently head straight into shader work. How nice.

if you need any ideas, I can give you a few ideas I have, but just be warned I like to come up with map ideas with a Utah theme to them.

Please :D Part of the reason I do this and not make maps is that I don't have a very good imagination as far as level ideas go.

It has an effect if he's posting ripped models on the forums without the author's permission. There are plenty of other ways to work on shaders as well. I still stand by if he wants to become proficient at making maps, he should gain the experience by making his own. That's how we all did it, isn't it?

If he wishes to gain experience in the HEK by using someone else's model thats fine i guess.. plus he won't be releasing it. That's all fine, but going around, showing of ingame shots/renders etc, what's the point in that? Are you somehow trying to look cool? by doing so?
Just do it for 'fun' like you say, and keep it to your self, i see no point in creating threads about it, because all you will get is arguments etc, and noobs asking you to 'please release this map!'.

ok, here is one, a map (earthy, city like) with a taco hell bell, a ware house, a mall, and a creek with a pond at one end. red sand for the ground, rocks that look like water has been running over it for years, and some trees.

with the controls of H2V being as crappy as they are Yoyorast Island series will be quite a difficult map to run through.
