This is a snowy Forerunner map which supports all gametypes. The purpose of this beta version is to generate feedback on gameplay elements, ie, whats good, whats bad, what does it need more of, etc. Visual errors (UVW, lighting) I don't really need much feedback on as I pretty much know what errors exist. However any visuals you think would improve the map I would love to hear about :).
Feedback can be given at H2Vista.net or can be E-mailed to me if you prefer that method.

PS. Please dont upload this to any permanent hosting sites such as halomaps.org as it is a Beta and would be a waste of space once the final is released.

Well I've set up a dedicated server on my PC, so that will be on when I am on, but I have no idea what the quality of the connection will be as I am in England, and i'll still be using my PC aswell. This also means I cannot join the server myself though :(.
Also I changed a single miniscule value that I thought may be causing problems with the map not showing up, so if you do use the server you will most likely have to download the map again.

Yeah, I can't find the map either. What was the value that you changed?
EDIT- I fixed it. I had it in the right directory, I think it was just the _beta part messing with me. I took that out and it showed up on the list.
Now that I've been able to explore it for a while, I have to say this map is complete win. The only thing I could suggest is crank down the lighting outside. It's doing that bloom to the max thing that Containment does.

It was a Map ID value, but its set to default now so I cant see why its not showing up (especially since it show up perfectly fine on mine). Are you sure your putting it in the right maps folder?

Sniping is going to be fun on this map ;) I think the boundaries are a bit off...not much thought i cannot circle the whole level. Then again mabey you want this kick ass sniper spot. GREAT MAP Either Way.

Damn firescythe, this looks great. You made some great CE maps, good to see you continuing development for halo 2. Or maybe I'm confusing you with FireDragon.

Thanks for the feedback guys, the map will play pretty much as it is now considering there is no really bad feedback, but I will be fixing the wall walking Chromide mentioned :). I'll keep putting my semi-dedi up though just in case.

Are there incomplete textures on this map? I have some pure white and black areas in the map. I'm on a low level of detail, if that makes a difference.

Nope, thats because the lightmaps weren't run on the highest quality, they were only run at medium, high doesn't have black spots and im hoping super has zero problems.

I'm trying to host a dedicated server with this map, and I'm running it as:
Map = Posterity_Beta
Is that wrong?

This is how my matches were set up for my dedi:

But it took me ages to get the server to decide where to have my custom maps. I had to install it as a service to get it to register that ther were in the *dedifolder*\custom maps folder.

Nice map so far man! I think you've really nailed the forerunner look. Diggin' the interior with the glass on the floor, and the rest of the textures look nice. The ambient sound is good stuff. The middle ledges are very cool, and the doorways are just big enough for a hog to slide through with a bit of air. I know you mentioned the lighting needs some work, i hope the snow isn't so bright in the final build. i think you should work a bit on the snow, maybe add some jagged ice patches here and there to break up the texture a bit. There is also a spot over the exit on the right, which makes me think this wasn't originally supposed to be a snow covered map, but you changed your mind at some point. Kind of this jagged area where the snow and concrete (or whatever) meet together. It looks out of place as if the snow was originally a rock texture.
Please take this as constructive criticism. Its impressive work with such little time using the editing kit.

I know you mentioned the lighting needs some work, i hope the snow isn't so bright in the final build.
The brightness of the snow is pretty much going to be the same, but i've put some forerunner geometry amongst it to break it up. Altering this would mean changing the sky and its just a hassle running lightmaps over and over to see if its just right, plus snow is pretty shiny anyway:p.

Are you on about the tunnel entrance/exits? I know theres a few sharp edges where the UVWs join which I will try to fix.
On a side note, if anybody has gotten into a few games on this, does the weapon placement seem ok?

Easiest fix would be to extend the entrances, like at 01:40 in the youtube video.

hey who showed u that i thought i figured it out :( (but i did show a few people), don't get rid of it lol it doesnt even make much or difference cuz if you fly too high or low you die.

I already knew about that before I put out the beta, and I will be removing it as you could quite easily camp with the banshee in the tight corridors, although I will probably put a blockage of some sort by the external doors rather than lengthen the doorway.

I don't agree about the camping FireScythe, the banshee could easily be boarded in conditions like that. The actual problem is using it to block doorways and entrances.

Instead of completely removing the banshee, you could just clear the reference to it, but still leave it's slot there. So then by default the banshee won't be there, but if you set banshee to ON in gametype settings it'll appear. (Like the additional turrets on most maps.)

FireScythe, that is one cool map. Looks awesome. You sir produced a factory map as far as I'm concerned (meaning it could have been the 24th map with the game).
I've got this running on our 'A003 XF Clan' dedi server probably until tomorrow afternoon.
There seems to be a problem with CTF spawn points. All too often if I was out of base, the other team would span in or real close to my base. This was just me and another guy, so there was no chance any other player was already 90% to my flag. Might want to double check your spawns..

Yes, the spawn points are not correct for team base styled games (CTF, Bomb assault, etc.) so its best to just play it on slayer, oddball, territories, etc.
