THIS URL IS TO THE BUG THREAD. POST BUGS HERE PLEASE KTHX (http://www.h2vista.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4440)!

This is the release thread for Yelo Battery. Releases will be frequent and buggy. Thank you for testing and contributing bug reports.

Latest Version:
Download here: http://www12.brinkster.com/bitterbanana/index.asp

Latest Features:
- Added separate chat/death message visibility options
- Added personal kill/death report feature to the HUD (as shown in pic below)

http://i11.tinypic.com/6hcnb4o.jpg

Latest Bug Fixes:
- Disabled profile-specific settings to fix possible startup-errors
- Fixed weapon-zoom flicker, again
- Created an alternate build for those who can't view ClearType fonts

Known Bugs:
- will not work with Xfire (disable xfire in-game to prevent crash)
- will not work with DXTweaker

Current Features:

1. FOV (Field of View)
- This feature allows you to change your FOV.
- When changing screen resolutions, the FOV aspect ratio is kept.
- When changing the FOV, the weapon position is kept in relative position to the screen.
- While adjusting, the degrees (width x height) are displayed

2. Weapon Position
- This feature allows you to change the way you hold your weapon.
- Each weapon has its own position

3. HUD Options
- Allows you to turn on/off all HUD elements, including those ignored by the command "show_hud".
- Allows you to scale the HUD to fit the screen's aspect ratio.
- Allows you to turn on/off the chat messages.
- Allows you to turn on/off the death reports (i.e. Beaufort was killed by Dippy)
- Allows you to display your kill/death reports as HUD messages. (i.e. "You killed Broseph (12)" is displayed in the HUD rather than the chat text)

Love it. You don't suppose one could set up monitors around a whole room, and create a 360 panoramic Halo view, do you?

The method used to scale the HUD will cause it to become grainy when the screen is too wide. But it works really well for the resolution in the screenshots (1024x480), which is wider than 16:9.

When I come up with a better method, yeah, it will support multiple monitors better.

DXTweaker, when i loaded ce through dxtweaker with the dll files in my ce directory i got gathering exception data. Only tried it once but when i tried loading the normal custom edition exe it worked fine.

porn web links would come up and overload your halo screen...using so much memory, you'll get teh blue screen of death

but, anyway. I'm wondering the same thing.

Its not going off your monitor, its going off your resolution. If there are problems just toggle hud scaling.

bitterbanana
July 7th, 2007, 09:54 PM
It's not exclusive to widescreen resolutions.

You can use it as a replacement for the old FOV hack, since it's easier to load and the flashback bug is gone.

Also, it's cool to change the way you hold your weapon, for aesthetic reasons. And you can turn off EVERYTHING in the hud, so no unwanted text (player names, hud messages, etc.) comes up when you're making a movie.

But I do get some exception errors for positioning the weapons, once...on CMT's map...

Note: Don't change weapon position while dead, changing weapons, or picking up weapons.

I was just talking with Korn about that. Yeah, it happened to me on Dissolution. I guess most CMT maps won't work with it.

Just happens I have enough moniters to make a full 360 veiw. (We went through alot of computers) Or atleast somewhere near that. Now I need to find a plug that can support that many moniters. Oh well guess I'll just use 3 for now. Great stuff as usual BB.

Edit: Okay I set up everything installed it but when I try to start up Halo CE I just got an automatic exeption error.

But I have a problem that I'm confused with. After I downloaded this, I put the files in the right place. The CE files in the ce directory and the PC files in the PC directory. But everytime I try to open up Halo or Halo Custom Edition, I just get a Gathering Exception Data...

Or you can get that Tripple Head 2 Go, because that combines the signals of 3 screens into one, so it works with everything. Windows sees it as a single monitor. :)

I placed all the files where they're supposed to go, but CE exceptions before it reaches the loading screen. CE Alldev and Fraps were the only other programs running.
Also, Sapien gives me this:

Ok then. I had iTunes running in the backround (at the time, I tried it again without iTunes on yet it still won't work) I have the latest version of both Halo and Halo CE, and in Halo CE, I use the CMT Campaign UI.

Could it have something to do with your using a custom UI? Korn did say that it has problems with custom UI maps, so I'm thinking it'd have a problem with your custom menu UI.

Also, Korn, do you think there'd be a way to have a button bound to toggle between one set position and another? Kind of a way to cheat for an ironsight mod.

But that still doesn't solve the problem about Halo PC not working with the plugin. Maybe it's because I used to mod Halo PC and the mods are still implemented in there. I guess I'll reinstall Halo PC and try it again.

I'm having the problem Elite's having too. The game simply won't start up and just keeps gathering exception. I know its not a Custom UI or mods since it won't work with PC and I have not modded that since I installed it.

Nah, Fraps makes higher quality clips. And you have the ability to get rid of the little "fraps.com" thing at the top of the screen so it doesn't get in the way of the movie. Also, instead of using "full-size", which produces bigger files, you can use "half-size" to decrease the size of the file.

Also, it sometimes records on it's own even when I'm not touching it...

This is very awesome. I've gotten it to work with Halo PC flawlessly. Can't say the same for CE, however. Maybe it'll fix itself like I've heard a few others talk about... either that or it was the whole Vista Effects Scheme thing I had running at the same time.

If I may make a suggestion, how about a numerical scale in the corner of whatever it is you're configuring? That's the only thing I feel this lacks.

Great job, Bitter. You never let us down.

Thanks deluxe for that screenshot proof. Also, your hud menu has all the included options.

EDIT:
And thanks Muki. I'm trying to keep a clean interface, so I cut the numbers. As long as you can reset and adjust them with an initial frame of reference, I don't think you need them. For example, when you're adjusting the FOV, the default view (70 degrees) is shown in brackets. I think that eliminates the need to display the actual degrees since you can just eyeball it.

And of course, I implemented features to reset those figures if you don't like your changes. But if you're curious enough, you can check "My Documents\My Games\Halo\savegames\<UserProfile>\YeloSettings.txt."

Yelo would inform you if the exe is the wrong version, so if the game hasn't crashed, it probably hasn't loaded.

Make sure the actual dll files are in the Halo directory, not in the included PC subfolder from the installation zip, but in the same directory as your halo.exe file. If that doesn't work, just give me more details to work with.

I will look at xfire, fraps, gamecam, and dxtweaker to see if the battery can work alongside it.

And masters, you should've gotten an error message saying it only works for Halo PC/CE 1.07.

And yes, we should make an installer for future releases.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but since I've had this installed I have a constant "Battery Depleted" signal on the plasma pistol in campaign.

Also, am I the only one who crashes when I try to work the weapons around with Custom Edition? I hit F7 and then 2, and I get an exception error, and I'm guessing it's because of all the extra weapon types. I'm pretty sure my HCE is up to date.

bitterbanana

Wow that was a fast response xD But yeah, okay, thanks for clearing that up. Loving the mod so far, I may even make a video of me playing around with it in a semi-montage-y format of some sort.

Overall I can't wait to see what you guys can pull off with this plugin. Perhaps in the future you'll be able to build in a third person mode or a chase cam, similar to the Zelda chase cam, perhaps (kind of useless in multiplayer, but it's still pretty fun to mess around with).

So much you guys could do, seriously. But no pressure. No pressure. ;b

if i set my weapons position and then close the game and remove the plugin, therefore re-enabling xfire with CE, will the weapon still have its altered position upon restarting without that plugin?

so the settings you save should stay when u leave a game and come back, like if i put my gun in the middle so I'm looking down the sights it should always stay?

If it should well it wasn't working when I was using it, it would only stay like that the duration of the game or match, then it would reset once a new game loaded or if I left and went back in.

Before asking anything about a youtube video, check the video info. People usually leave the name of the song there.

While I'm here...

The weapon adjustments work for protected maps now. Also, to keep xfire from crashing, go to tools, options, games, select halo, and disable xfire in-game. I'll try to fix the text lag problem since you'll have to minimize to read your instant messages.

I'm working on more weapon features before I release another update.

The position should stay until you change it yourself. The settings are saved in your halo profile folder. So if you choose a different profile, it will create new settings.

Fixing the text lag problem would be a really huge fix. I don't see why Bungie didn't fix it themselves ;b Personally it never bothers me because I play in windowed and alt-tabbing never messes up the text, but other people play fullscreen.

Can't wait to play around with weapons in protected maps.

If you're asking why there aren't very many features in this build, it's not because of the map protection problem. Yelo Battery is not Project Yellow (name out-of-date). The battery build was created from scratch this summer so I could easily manage it myself while kornman was working on halo 2. Features will be added once the current features are stable.

It's a hassle to learn, especially if you have no Direct3D experience, like myself. There are tons of direct3d hooking guides out there (in c++). It's definitely not something you can do with a trainer though.

Well not I wasnt asking why there wasnt many features in this build, I think there is enough. This as some thing to do with project yelo, I know it isnt PY, I was just wondering whether the PY stuff still works for CE, because this has a few errors, PY runs via a new exe and I bet some other dlls. Wasnt sure if these problems where universal.

I could get a source from your pal Racer_S from his site he made one that writes on the screen in GTA SA in VB6. I know you need to hook onto the scree via dx, its just how do you write on. Do you create pixels of the colour you want (so a bit of a darker background, then white for the white text (using yelo battery for example) and you do it in sweaps just how DX works...

Also why does bitter have grey rep box? and not a really big shining green rep box??

I don't know, I haven't tested the PY stuff in a long time. There were some key problems with the loader that were fixed in the Battery method though.

I downloaded the update and installed it, but my halo ce exceptions when I try to start it, this has been happening ever since my game crashed while setting up my weapons position. Anyway I figured out it has to do with my profile, I deleted my profile and backed it up, and the game started with the new updated plugins finally, but when I was setting up a new profile, I changed the graphics settings to be lower (so I dont get bad fps) and the game exceptioned when I went to save the new gfx settings.

I'm not sure whats going on other than the exceptions/crashes being related to my profile settings...

I don't understand your question, but I'll guess. The YeloSettings.txt file holds the settings. It's located in your halo profile folder "my games/halo/savegames/<profile name>/". So to transfer the settings to another profile, move it to the respective profile folder.

Since I run my desktop at 1600x1200 but Halo (normally) at 1024x768, I think i'm going to check out a widescreen res. Does this release include the HUD Death/Kill feature?

No not yet. Also, both of those screen resolutions are standard 4:3.

I told Devour about the new feature that was added last night. It displays your kills and deaths in the HUD rather than the chat text, as in Halo 1 Xbox.

Note: "You killed Borat" is displayed as a HUD message
http://i11.tinypic.com/6hcnb4o.jpg

By default, it only appends the number of kills to the message if it's a slayer game. I'm going to make it display for all gametypes some time today, then we'll release.

And to answer your question, yes there is. (and so on : japan, german, spanish, italian...)

This version is quite weird too, it do translate all the language string in french even if the map was build with the english strings (Off course when it come to custom string it do not), the SP map are gitchy for some odd reasons (by glitchy I mean sounds and bitmaps problems). There's also a mistake in the translation ( for "user created map" :p). And huu....oh yes, this version do check for update, but It do not find any. So you're stuck with the 1.0, unless you update it manually

With the old hack, the weapon actually stays in place. You just start to see more of your arms as you increase your field of view.

In Yelo Battery, I wanted to be able to change the FOV without seeing more of your arms. Is that a bad idea?

I noticed people were complaining about the weapons clipping at larger FOV's. I always fixed it by pushing the weapon forward a little bit until it didn't clip and wasn't distorted.

Well it might be a bad idea, more personal preference. I can see why you did it the new way, and its definetely got more potential - it just makes it a whole lot more complicated if you arent messing around with the positioning and just like it... normal.

I forgot to specify that it displays your kills as blue HUD text, rather than the smaller white chat text. And in the screenshot, the kill-count isn't displayed, but it is in the current build.

I downloaded the version 3 of yelo battery, the one that should fix the clear type bug error thingy.

It still doesnt display the fonts, its just a grey box again, however this time it lags/cuts down the FPS alot..

I finally got around to using it, and I like it. It doesn't work with some resolutions i've thrown at it though, such as 4000x600, which exceptions before I even see the Halo splash screen. And yes, it works without the d3d9.dll just fine.

edit- Nevermind. It just didn't like being forced to a second screen is all.

And also I don't even see a d3dx9_33.dll in halo folders the only thing resembling that is d3d9.dll which is the Yelo program.

My summer class set me back last week. I had to do a lot of reading, so I didn't have a lot of energy to work on the major Battery features (i.e. left-handed weapons). But I did spend a little time working on Salem, which I guess I'll uncover here. It's a server-side plugin that will hopefully end all aimbot accusations forever and ever.

But next week begins my 2 week summer vacation, followed by fall semester classes. So future releases will be much less frequent than the initial three.

Edward Elrich
August 5th, 2007, 11:43 PM
You need to be in a vehicle for the third-person FOV. I don't think that this app supports a third-person view while you're ground-based (and not in a side seat of the warthog, tank, etc.) yet. (I'm not saying it will soon, if at all, but there's always the possibility it might. *waits to be contradicted*)

edit: I'm just guessing on this, personally I never tried the thirdFov out. I just went off of the name.

OK, a couple suggestions on improvements (I'm too lazy to read the last 20 pages or so, I hope the stuff on the first page is the most recent):
1. Adjusting your weapons FOV could not only go on the X and Y axis, but the Z one, too.
2. It would be nice if you could select a master FOV for every weapon, and from there, you could personalize the FOV for each weapon, like if you have a Rocket Launcher or Fuel Rod, it would go over your shoulder realistically, instead of if you looked down, it would appear to go right through your stomach.

I recently found how to control other players if you are host. Each player is assigned a number as they join your server. If you assign a players number to yours, you will freeze and you can control their movement and actions.

Well why is this useful? If they are botting, you hold shift, they will lock onto to other players. Yes, the host can see it, because they are controling them and the player you are controlling cannot see what is happening on his screen =] This is an idea I had for anti-bot but didn't know where to go with it. Just throwing it out there =p

Bastinka

Thats highly unlikely to happen in halo, if you were to control another player they would exception out. The bot is an auto-aim which is client only, only the person running the aimbot could use it.

Also, I encountered a strange bug that may or may not be related to Yelo Battery. When I was playing Sidewinder, I noticed that the ice was really dull. I looked in my video settings and to my surprise I found that specular and shadows were off... I of course didn't turn them off. So I turned them back on, and suddenly I wasn't able to access any widescreen resolutions, or it would appear my HUD scaling options.

I had high hopes initially, but it's not looking good. Sorry about my precarious activity on this anti-bot, there's just a whole lot of tricky stuff involved. The school year's about to begin, so I don't think I'll ever finish it.

I haven't been encountering very many cheaters on PC/CE. People get tired of cheating; it becomes sickening. So it's possible that the problem has taken care of itself.

Halo opens, and then closes. D:
You, along with a few others, are having the same problem. I'm assuming it has to do with my poor D3D management. Some people's machines tolerate it, but others don't. I'll go back and try to clean it up when I get the time.

I made a mistake about that. You sure you put the files in there, if you just extracted them, the folder the files were in might have been extracted with them. So Check your Halo CE Folder and look for a folder called "CE" If you do, you should find the files in there. Take them out and place them outside of the CE folder.
