Well, I've shown this to Firedragon, Lightning and others.. I've gotten good feedback and decided to post this. I've also posted this on the gearbox forums.

Lots of renders :p

Looks like it'll be fun, and the modeling is nice too. Keep it up.

Awesome, I didn't know you could model that good. Good job!

Thanks LlamaMaster, didn't know you were at these forums?

Lol, if you search around on my photobucket you can see earlier pictures for proof that it is indeed my model.

Like thats a first ;)

Anyway, any suggestions would be nice. And yes it is 'sort of' based on grove final, that base in the first picture is the middle construction. The waterfall path and the base 'sort of' relate to grove_final. I know the path from the team base to the middle has only 2 ways, I'm still thinking of a 3rd way. After all, 3's a magic number :p

EDIT: Also, it's around 7k tri's.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. Except.. that could cost some polygonal wastage, although the use of exact portals comes in handy in situations like so. I'll try it!

It looks really nice, for some reason it reminds me of chill out.

It's supposed to be forerunner based, but allright everyone has an interpretation of it. And thanks for the comments guys :)

Bit of offtopic, but who uses 56k in this forum?

As for the map itself, looks pretty damn decent.

The people living in places that only have 56k and 100k, like myself. :smith:

The corridors marked in red need a escape route or must have scenery unless you want shity gameplay.

Has this map been geared up to be effective when using vehicles to get around? with all the ledges camped around it seems like it'd be a pain in the ass to go anywhere on the ground.

Pretty nice! +rep

Suggestion:

Make it like a dark, foggy, mossy labyrinth that can be useful for the element of surprise.

/suggestion

But if you already have a style for the map that you like better, go for that one.

Nice work eric :O

So this is that map you were talking to that weird dude about? :) Nice work..needs a bit more floor detail as its just one level really. (The ground I mean) it could do with some height variation.

Uhh, I disagree with that. It's the rush of someone being behind you, while you have the flag and try to escape. Take Grove_Final for example, I just made my own re-enactment of the inside base.

There is no rush if you will get killed every time you try to run away in those corridors.

And your grabbing the flag by yourself when you know there are enemies by it why?

Bastinka
July 16th, 2007, 11:15 PM
That's why you team rush in, kill enemies, the rest of your team 'spawn camps' and waits for you in a hog outside. You jump off the balcony and get in the warthog.. and run away!

Becuse you'er a skilled player that can lead and headshot.
Even a skilled player is doomed in those corridors.

I'm guessing you forgot Capture the Flag was a TEAM game.

And if your referring to Slayer. Well I don't see the problem. its whoever shoots the best wins in those corridors. And I likes me a challenge.

Try playing grove_final, the corridors are basically the same. Except he put holes to drop back down to the flag spawn, which is what I mimicked. It's really not a long path, and making it too complex can cause players to go the wrong way and end up where they started surrounded by others.

EDIT:

I'm guessing you forgot Capture the Flag was a TEAM game.
I'm guessing your being sarcastic or you didn't even read my post.

Um let me rephrase that.

I guess you forgot that halo isn't a team game.
Most people will kill whore, most people going for the flag in pub games, can't lead, so they would get owned by any skilled player camping in there
Leave the corridores as they are if you want.

Bastinka

Well, I was never stating Halo is or isn't a team game.. but last time I checked a mass majority of Halo players don't use much 'teamwork'. A game like Battlefield 2 uses a lot of teamwork.

I'm going to leave the corridors as they are, and if anyone has a problem with that, then make a map of your own and rub it in my face.

There might not be a whole load of cooperation in pubs, but there's still enough to warrant it being called a 'team game'.
Exactly.
