When did they ever say the BR was a brand new weapon created after Halo 1 and before Halo 2?

rossmum

It was still experimental between the games, most weapons aren't experimental for over 20 years...

Johnson is just badass like that (but that would make him how old? he'd have to have spent a fair while in cryo :S.. or mb he was a spartan 1 after all..)

It's clearly a military coverup creating a need to know basis, where if you only kind of need to know you dont get the truth.

they didn't, but why would a far flung planet like harvest have them, but not a modern UNSC battle ship deployed from reach?

Do remember that the Halcyon class was very old by the time of Halo's events and that it was only brought out of moth balling and renewed because it was one hell of a tough ship. If I remember there was a relatively small amount of marines onboard, basically only enough to support the spartan's when they took over a covenant ship (the whole reason the PoA was used). Maybe the large majority of troops on board choose the MA5B over the BR55 or that the PoA simply wasn't supplied with them.

But I like the idea that Bungie fucked up better =D

You put too much continuity in games and real life. Marines from PoA and Halo 2 weilded covenant weapons with a high level of accuracy and proficiency, does that mean all the marines took Covenant Weaponry 101? How about the marines riding Ghosts in Halo 1? Did they take courses to certify them on those vehicles? The only thing you should be concerned about continuity between a game and book is the story and objects. Game mechanics and art direction from title to title should be completely left out of the picture. Or do you want to believe the UNSC goes through an armor redesign for its soldiers every few weeks and an automatic weapon with next to no recoil is less accurate and has shorter range than a semi automatic handgun with enough recoil to knock it into orbit?

covenant tech is superior and easier to use.
I imagine ghosts are not unlike a motor bike.

I don't recall a difference between h1 and h2 marines (unless you mean the drop pod marines). as for the assault riffle, it was just awesome like that. gosh

Skiiran
July 18th, 2007, 02:42 AM
There doesn't appear to be any difference between Halo 2 marines' armor and Halo 3 marines' armor, on a technical level. While they do have camouflage under suits/body gloves, they're fighting mostly in forests now. The marines in Halo 1 & 2 were either expecting to fight aboard ships or in concrete-coated areas, meaning, practically, a gray suit makes sense.

So I don't see how one can claim that it even seems like they have an armor-redesign every week. They just have different variations on the same basic armor.

The series is about a 7-foot tall cyborg who can flip 3-ton vehicles with his bare hands, heaven forbid it be unrealistic.

You honestly dont see a difference between this (http://www.bungie.net/images/games/Halo/screenshots/scrn_093.jpg), this (http://www.bungie.net/images/Games/Halo2/screenshots/oxm-coweringgrunt-040204.jpg), and this (http://www.bungie.net/images/Games/Halo3/Screenshots/H3_forest02.jpg)? Granted, the differences between Halo 2 and 3 aren't as vast as Halo 1 and 2, but they are there. My point still stands that art direction and gameplay mechanics shouldn't take such a massive part in continuity.

Zeph
July 18th, 2007, 02:43 PM
modern tanks range from about 60-70 tonnes. While I expect the weight of them to drop in the future as alloys become lighter and stronger, I wouldn't put it past bungie to label it with that weight.

The F-35 "Lightning II" is a multi-role fighter descended from the Lockheed Martin X-35 Joint Strike Fighter project, designed to replace the venerable F-15, F-16, and F-18 fighter lines. It costs $48 million on the low end and
$68 million on the high end. It is to be a cheaper front-line aircraft that does the dirty work, where the F-22 Raptor is to be the expensive ($120 million) scalpel. It should be noted that the F-35B is capable of Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL), and as such a replacement to the AV-8 Harrier.

Am I right?

rossmum
July 19th, 2007, 03:39 AM
Wait, the Raptor is still more expensive? Holy shit... thought the F-35 was.

Then again, that'd explain why we're likely to buy a few. Our defence budget... heh. Budget indeed.
