Im texture baking cliffs in mudbox and so far its been 2 hrs. and is at 30%. Also, there's 2gb worth of images made so far in mudbox's texture folder. Is this normal? are cliffs different than rocks?

Yeah they take more ram. If you don't have enough then lower the highest subdivide level. Cliffs take so much time to create, and if you screw up you could maybe not be able to get it to work. Good luck

You probably put them through tool, guerilla, whatever the process for normal maps is =P.

did you UVW unwrap your mesh before importing it into mudbox?

Wait it was an easy fix, make the highest subdivide level lower when done. If you can't get to compile the normal map then break the level down in smaller areas.

Hey bud, depending on how big your lvl is you may need to split up the cliff walls so you are using 4 seprate normal maps. try to make sure you slpit it up to hide the seems. Also i can tell you did not unwrap it at all. If you are getting 422342314123 texures in your mudbox folder , its because you have failed to unwrap properly. for cliff walls i just select a certain amount of polys all roughly facing the same DEGREE, and use Planar option found within UVW mapping. I scale/rotate the gizmo until it surounds my faces. then hit the FIT button. I then do the same thing to another set of polys and then i stitch then all together. The tutorial is for advance users. please make sure you are knowledgable in max/maya first

hey srry to bother you but is there a way to work with large things in mudbox cuz i had to make my cliffs a 5th the size to be able to see them and the normal map from them doesnt work for larger cliffs... zooming out doesnt work, i even tried with the small cliffs and after a certain point of zooming out it seems to disapear behind an invisable barrier
