When starting Halo 2 on XP I get a loading screen for about five seconds, then the game quits and crashes to the desktop. I haven't actually tried the Vista version, regrettably, because of technical installation issues, but I'm am still trying. Please suggest something I could do to coax the game to function properly.

I don't think you'll find any answers my friend, XP isn't supported.

I have tried it on xp, it didnt work. (Loader and everything.) I'm not gonna sit around hoping someone here helps me, because the game was created to run on Vista.

I heard there was an XP patch developed recently.

Do you have the latest DirectX runtimes? (you'll need 9.0c or later)

You heard wrong There is NO plan to EVER support Halo 2 Vista for xp. Heck as the name it self suggjest VISTA! lol anyhow. Some people have made emulators which allow you to run it however they are buggy and don't work with Live (you can't play online or LAN).

Nooo....they're not buggy at all. You just can't play online, that's all. Everything else works flawlessly.

Just update your DirectX to the latest version and it'll work. It worked for me and I'm pretty sure it'll work for you.

It was never officially called Halo 2 Vista. Always called Halo 2 PC.

even though that may be true, vista can take up quite a bit of RAM (ranging anywhere between 100 and 130 mb of memory

Halo 2 was developed for Vista only.

You honestly have no idea what you're talking about. Vista itself is scalar according to whatever memory is available. It also caches data you're most likely to use into memory.
