I've created an extremely simple map with 3ds Max 9, and used the Bluestreak .ASS exporter to create the .ASS file. I tried to use the Map Editor Launcher to compile the .ASS file, but after the command prompt opened, it was blank for about 3 seconds, then said "Press any key to continue." and that closed it. No .scenario files or the like were saved into the data folder. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Make sure that all editable polys are editible meshes. That always seem to work for me. Also max 9 is the most stable for vista. I have tryed max 7, 8 and they seem to chug along and are laggy.

It might be more stable on vista but max 9 wasn't availible when halo 2 was being developed. I have no problems exporting it while it's editible poly; might just be max 9.

If it's not too late, I had the same problem earlier. Close down 3ds max 9 and open it again before compiling a new .ass file. I dunno why this worked, but it did.

There are a lot of people here that can help you. Do you get compiling errors? Have you linked your map to the root?

One thing about the mapmaking, you gotta be patient... if you are you'll be able to make a nice map someday, if you're not... might as well stop here...

It's not an error but a warning, and normally you will get that warning.

###Warning#### found override shader

That tells you that you linked a shader to that material, and the game will use your shader instead of the basic "rainbow" shader. And it is indeed like vicky said normal that you get that warning.
