Hi. I am going to be getting a new computer soon and i was wondering if i should get H2V or should i wait for it to be hacked to make vehicles and stuff. But then again, if the community does find out a way, can we use them in public? Or would we be banned from LIVE?

The game is great, but don't hold your breath for anything like that. Meanwhile, it's a great game with awesome multiplayer. I could even go as far as saying that I could go without custom content for now. It's a solid game, even though it has its flaws. In addition, there's still going to be great maps released by the community.

To answer your post's title jokingly:
No, do not buy Halo 2 for Windows Vista. It is a total waste of money, and you will regret it.
Honestly:
If you enjoy the Halo series, if you want take a stab at making maps, or just enjoy being at your PC all the time, and not having to go through the hassle of switch to a controller, then get Halo 2 Vista.
It's wonderful. The multiplayer is almost the same, just realize that there's no real matchmaking, and nobody's competing for their level's now. Yay.

Yes, i do have good enough specs for H2V. I probably will be buying H2V soon after my computer comes in 2 weeks from now. Thanks for your guys opinions. Although there are a couple of VERY dumb things involving the Editing Kit, like the fact that they dont even include a tree:mad:, i think it would be a good buy.
Expect me to be a little bit more involved in the community in a while. Like my map for Halo CE, Prescenium (http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=2858), to be in H2V.

If you have it on Xbox, sure you're not missing anything, but it's a lot nicer to play on the PC. The game is very poorly optimized for the PC, and Microsoft has pretty much forsaken us with multiplayer. It's up to you, a little while ago I would have said no. Now, I say maybe.

If you have played the xbox version, there ain't no reason to get H2V apart from free online multiplayer, a staple of PC games (then again, if you're an avid Xbox LIVE user, that becomes redundant as well).
If you haven't played Halo 2 before, go ahead and buy the game, just be prepared to curse and swear at the poor optimization. I recommend you run at low graphic settings (if your specs aren't high-end that is) because on high, H2V looks minimally better than the Xbox version, and for those pathetically few visual upgrades you get a huge impact on framerate. On low, H2V looks just as good as the Xbox version and runs better :).
Still, the campaign is damned good and multiplayer is great too (but GFWL really ruins it).

Yes, i do have Halo 2 for the Xbox but I always like making custom stuff even though theres barely anything to make custom i think im still going to buy it because i think the PC versions are always better.

Get it for pc if u can set everything on high :) other than that still get it because you can make ur own maps and such and not worry about getting banned
That graphics weren't imroved much, so setting it on high just makes it feel a bit more... well smoother. You can do AA now, like the xbox 360 already does.
And why worry about making maps? Making maps and modding content are two different things. (I'm referring to the problem with xbox live and just modding)

In general, yes it's fun to go beyond the set limits of a game with it's original content. To actually modify the game completely, though is another story. If you capture your own set of art, ideas, and gameplay, then that is a good modding in my opinion.
High jumps, unlimited grenades, and modified variables and settings in weapons is utterly dumb in my opinion. I don't really think those add to much of any experience for me.
I just like the whole new experience to a game engine, or added content.
So on topic of Halo 2 Vista... regarding user content, you should buy Halo 2 Vista, because there will plenty of talent comming into H2V. The new experiences you will get, may just be astounding.

Making one gun fire another weapon's projectiles (i.e. a battle rifle firing rocket launcher rounds) can hardly be considered modding. Even I can do that. It's fun at first but that wears off when it gets too easy. For example, in Halo PC I once switched the properties so that the AR was chambered in the pistol rounds, and since it retained its clip size and ROF, it became so powerful that the game got boring.
Presently, the locked EK presents true modding, that is custom content with properties that were not in the original Halo 2. User-created conent is limited to making maps. And I've seen people who think that they're so awesome for making a nighttime version of Coagulation.
Well, if you have the computer juice and if you like Halo 2's multiplayer but don't want to pay, get H2V. It's a shame that numerous technical issues that Hired Gun had no excuse not to fix almost kill a great game like Halo 2. And by technical issues, I do not mean bugs/glitches/crashes.
