Yeah, because he'd trade with the iraqis for their oil.
Something like the nukes hidden underground for example.

I'd like to see the effects of a nuke blowing up really far below the surface of the earth, it'd be like an earthquake. A man made earth-quake.

What I don't get is why anybody in the U.S can become president, or am I not getting the full picture?

I meant any U.S citizen can become president, no matter what they do. A homeless guy could go for Presidency.

The key thing in that is they can "run" for president, but that doesn't mean he'll get votes or support.

Why don't you ask your history teacher next school year.

But not exactly any U.S. citizen can become president, you have to be born in the country i think.

There would be no more fat people or diabetics and everyone would be in fantastic shape: he'd have everyone in America under a compulsory exercise regimen and he'd blacklist half of the foods in the common grocery store. What a shame... too bad Jack LaLanne never ran for office.

But not exactly any U.S. citizen can become president, you have to be born in the country i think.
Yes.

You also have to be a certain age. I cant remember the other things. The biggest problem people would face in running for president is the modern American media and financing the campaign.

Use to be, you had to be like 30 years or over, white ,and a male. But there have been a lot of people challenging that.

Atty

Yeah, what the fuck is with that?

Dole
July 28th, 2007, 12:11 AM
I don't think it was ever in the Constitution that you had to be white and male, it's was just that only white males had a sparring chance and so they were the only people to run up until modern times.

As for age, I think you had to be like 28 or 34 minimum. However, up until JFK that was never an issue because candidates were typically over fifty to begin with for the same reasons they were white males.

Yo, home dogs, it's twenty-five for House, Thirty for Senate, and Thirty-Five for President!

Warsaw

The official requirements for presidential candidacy are as follows:

1. Must be at least 35 years of age.
2. Must have lived in the US for at least 14 years.
3. Must be a natural-born US citizen (immigrants of any origin cannot be president).

Unofficially, you also have to be filthy rich. It takes a lot of money to run for the nation's executive office.

Also, the Governator is trying to change number three on that list. I swear, if that one gets changed, I am leading a revolution.

Why?

It's not like a foreign president could do any worse than a US-born one, we've got GWB to prove that.

Warsaw
July 28th, 2007, 02:04 AM
It's not that. It's just the principle. We start letting non-Americans become the American President, you might as well not even have to apply for citizenship anymore. It's also for pride of the nation and respecting old traditions. It's part of the American culture.

I know that, but if you lived in the US all your life but were born in another country, that really blows. Like, if you moved there a week later or something.

Bush did what he had to do, simple as that. Any mistakes he made in office were made after he started losing support, not the other way around.

True... but that would've been more or less comparable to Mohandas Gandhi becoming the King of England as a subject of the British Empire and a member of a wealthy family. It's all about attatchments to and roots in one's fatherland.

He didn't have to go to Iraq, granted it did do some good, but he didn't have to.

Besides, he doesn't even know what he's doing half the time. But this is not the place for that argument, so we should both probably shut up :x

Warsaw
July 28th, 2007, 04:22 PM
You don't even live in the U.S., so obviously you can't understand the requirement on the same level.

A lot of couples move here before they have children, but that doesn't make your point any less valid.

I doubt that she'd know much about U.S history seeing as she's a Canadian History teacher.

I understand what you're saying warsaw but i think Arnold would make a good president, but not because of the terminator >_> but because he actually knows what he's doing and isn't retarded. unfortunately once you make one president no doubt more will come. and chances are more won't always be as good as the first.

Humor me and do a look at pre-9/11 wikipedia. None of his actions never got much coverage, but he repealed all of Clinton's environmental acts among other things. Bad president all together.

Humor me and hop off the fucking bandwagon.
