Hi, i dont think my current graphics card (Radeon 9250 PCI) will handle halo 2 vista good, I have yet to get vista but i am getting home basic sometime next month along with 2gbs of RAM and a graphics card of my choice.

I have recently looked over this graphics card, its has 512MB video memory and is a AGP card(i have a agp slot on my motherboard): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-RADEON-X1950-PRO-Interface/dp/B000N7I2PU/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4/202-0791607-0363025?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1185749907&sr=8-4

Excellent choice even for an AGP card.

You're definatly going to be able to play Halo 2 Vista with the video card you're considering, but your processor might slow down the game.

Could you tell me a good enough processor which will run halo 2?

atleast an 2.0 Ghz Processor will

It will, but not very well. I'd suggest any 64 bit or Dual Core Processor to play it well. Or even better, get a 64 bit Dual Core Processor.

Any AMD Athlon 64 X2 4K + or e6 + should run the game fine.

I have a friend with it on his PC (with h4x to make it run on XP). A couple of weeks ago, he brought his hard drive over, (lugging his PC wasn't an option) and plugged it into my machine. H2V ran fine on my computer at 1024x768, and my processor is an AMD Athlon 64 2.4ghz single core, so your processor should be alright.

On the other hand, with Vista running in the background, I don't know how it'll run. I've heard Aero cuts FPS by a fair bit. I could be wrong, though.

Hmm, I never tried disabling Aero while playing Halo 2. Even some Games for Windows Live games like the Lord of the Rings Online disables it.

You don't have to disable Aero. If you turn on a game, Aero is disabled automatically.

The game should run fine! But I do recommend investing in a dual core processor. Skip the 64 bit crap, Halo 2 Vista isn't 64-bit optimized (and not dual-core optimized either I think, but the processor itself is better anyhow) so it wouldn't make a difference, and it doesn't seem the Windows market is heading that direction anyways. A standard Dual Core does fine. If you can get a 64 bit Dual Core at the same price, go for it!

GHZ don't make that much of a difference. A 1.8 ghz processor will run almost the same as a 2.0 ghz processor. It depends on the processor itself. A Celeron will run way worse than a Core Duo. Pricing matters as well.

You know what I just realized... I have 1 AGP slot and like 6 PCI slots... No, not PCI-E... PCI... God, my comp is ancient.

You have an AGP slot, use that to it's full extent. Get either a Geforce 7950GT or a Radeon X1950PRO. Anything else isn't worth it.
