I bought the game, I activated it, a while ago, when it asks you to input your key. Now, I just updated my ATI Drivers, and I run Halo 2. It tells me to activate it again. What the?

I understand I can just do that, but, why is this happening? And isn't there a limited amount of times you can activate the game? I don't want to waste that on this.

I know someone that did 3 installs, then he couldn't anymore... he called m$ and they said "Yeah sorry, nothing we can do about that. Buy another copy.". But i've also read people installed over and over again so... flip a coin, it's a wild guess...

I've reinstalled the whole game along with my OS at least 5 times now. Never had a problem with activation.

As for the drivers, it may have kicked off an ol' setting. You might want to email support there, and get them to look into it.

As for being awesome. You're awesome.

I don't think there's a limit to how many times you can use your activation as long as it's on the PC that you originally installed it on.

Oh, and Microsoft is supposed to give you a new key if you have proof that you bought it. That's bullshit that you pay for a product that's legally yours and not get repairations for it.

I agree, they made a faulty activation procedure. They should replace your copy (or whatever) if activation fails after re-installing and it should still work if you upgrade your pc, many people will upgrade because of h2v.

I'll call em up if this happens again and it doesn't work. Odd, I really must say. Very. Doesn't matter for a while anyhow, I can't really play anything for some time (fried card)

Good lucking waiting 45 mins on hold to speak to someone with a hard to understand irritating accent to argue your reasons why you want to activate your copy again. In the end you will find out it would have been more worth it just buy another copy...

Btw, may I ask, what card do you have? Is it a mobile chip? I have had 4 RMAs on my nv 7600 go since I upgraded to vista due to over heating problems.

Apparently, when you activate, your PC specs are also sent, so no matter how many times you uninstall/install/format on that same computer, you should be fine.

Maybe it identifies your motherboard and holds you to that.

Isn't there a privacy policy that they are obligated to tell you what information they send? For all you know, MS could be having all sorts of stuff from your computer being sent to them to identify you.

Well how frustrated you must be.
Gosh I bet ill run into this problum myself soon because I plan on upgrading my video card soon

Well best advice I can give is to try out the digital locker in the control panel.
I beleve you can backup your activations online or something But im not shore how it works becaue I have'nt used it.
I seem to recall someone telling me thay just redownloaded thare activation or something.
Digatal locker stores downloaded payed for software activations or product keys like you bought The software in a store.Sorta like paying ms points for xbl dlc I think. Well good luck figureing it out!
