HONOLULU - Hurricane Flossie packed 135 mph wind as it spun closer to Hawaii on Sunday, but forecasters predicted the Category 4 storm would weaken before passing by the islands later this week. Its not weakening like they predicted....

Meh, I have lived through 4 major hurricanes in my life. This is one is minor, however will be the first I have ever experienced in Hawaii. Can't wait. It was a interesting site seeing my neighbors house ripped off its foundation and fly into the sky. I'm still kinda pissed off at the clouds this thing has been generating, its blocking my view of the meteor shower I wanted to see tonight.

Getting close! Guess I should start boarding up the windows. The forecast keeps getting more wrong every day. First they were saying it would weaken and dissipate before it even became a hurricane, then they said it would not even hit the island, and now theres a hurricane "warning" with a projected path covering the island with in only a day before impact... This thing is a category 4 for crying out loud. Wow people here are going to be more unprepared than ever.

I LOVE violent weather when we get it. It is very fun and exciting to see trees flying by and high winds and such. Very VERY fun indeed.
As for weather predictions let me tell you a secret. Weather forecasters know SQUAT about the weather. They will never learn that you simply can NOT predict how Nature will act. Whenever you hear a weather forecast.....believe the OPPOSITE of what it is saying.

Whenever you hear a weather forecast.....believe the OPPOSITE of what it is saying.Perhaps thats so in USA, but here in UK they get the weather pretty much spot on. Could be to do with the fact it always rains so they only have to say "rain" and we know its true, lol but seriously, technology has gone along way, I can understand if they know its going to rain and know a rough idea of say where this hurricane is going to go (because of air temperatures) but I agree I dont know how they do temperatures, estimates perhaps?

When it comes to hurricanes/tropical storms/tropical cyclones, don't take chances by watching the local weather channel.

They were predicting it would hit the islands ever since it formed from a baby depression.

Yeah, no. Wilma was a wimpy Category 2 and caused so much destruction in South Florida that the last time there was any kind of destruction like it on that level was when Andrew ripped through here.
Hell, it was West Palm Beach County that got hit big time. Broward and Dade were on the weak side of Wilma. Keep in mind, Category 2. We used to laugh at Category 2 hurricanes--up until they moved like a snail across the state though.

And don't forget Floyd, a Class 3, flooding a lot of the Southeast.
Who remembers Fran? That was the worst. We had no power for 2 weeks in 95-degree weather.

Yeah, because 2 people who know each other being on a forum together is bad. HOW DARE THEY continue their relationship to other parts of their life!? HOW DARE THEY support each other - because clearly noone supports anyone else on forums ever unless they're in a relationship. :downs:
Just because the 2 people in question happen to not like you is not a valid reason for why relationships don't belong on forums. Perhaps when you learn to see things from other peoples' perspectives, you'll understand.
Oh also.
...plus you cannot make that desicion. If you do not like it then please do not let the door hit your butt on the way out.

Chinooks? I live close to an airbase (which is bloody fucking awesome). I get A-10 Thunderbolt II flyby's every other weekend. I think at one point we also had some Blackhawks too.I don't think he was referring to the helicopter.

Meh, I live near Edwards AFB, they test some weird shit there. Homing Nuclear Missile tests every week or so, and every once in a while, a completely silent, jet-black airplane flies overhead.:iia:

The only thing that happens in my area that is interesting was a few construction projects next to my house (Trying to stuff a couple hundred people into 25 postage stamp sized condos!). Buildings being torn down, etc. Occasionally California gets an earthquake but so far I've slept through every big one xD.

Well, not exactly seeing them press the button, but they fly up into the air at night (It's easy to tell a missile when you're looking at one, looks like a campfire on steroids who has learned to fly), go just above where you would see a plane, then go BOOM.
It's fun to watch nuclear explosions over the desert in the middle of the night.

Wow, off topic much?
Anyways, the storm seems to have broken up allot. The worst that has happened was major flooding from the surges, blocking off major roads and high ways. The storm isn't done yet however. Winds and lots of rain is still ahead.

No no, you obviously use over two exclamation points if you're over the age of 21. Gosh, respect your elders ExAm.

When people realize flying sims are the coolest, most fun games around.
