My campus got new systems for its library. I haven't had a chance to check the other labs yet, but there's a great chance the others have too. Since my fall semester hasn't started up yet, they're not properly set up so I actually had access to the control panel. They all have Core 2 Duo 6600s, 1 GB of RAM, and X1300s. What a waste. I have no idea why they'd get 6600s instead of something much lower end. The most they'll be doing is searching a library database, using Office, or surfing the net. Once the user permissions are set, you cant even access the start menu on them.

I am hoping some of that money got into my digital media labs. They're the things that need overkill on campus.

Man, you make me jealous and feel ashamed of my school. Our most powerful PCs ever are in the library, with 2.8Ghz P4s, 256MB shared RAM, and Intel Extreme Graphics 2. Hey, they're a step up from those crappy windows 98 PCs where google.com took over 10 seconds to load even on a T3 connection shared by the whole school...

These computers are way overkill since they're just for surfing and typing. They belong in game-making classes or graphic design classes.

Pc's at my old college were utterly shit.

I dont even know the specs, but I'd guage they were like pentuim 2, 1.4Ghz, 128mb ram. The whole college was run off 2 servers, although they have T1, it was shared between too many pcs and took AGES to load =\ crashed a few times too which sucked.

Hopefully at uni they will have decent pcs seeing as you have to pay fees to go there, they wont have shitty pcs I hope.

Hey our Beamer (Projector) costs 17.500 DM (That's Deutsche Mark)...it's ancient and 17.500DM are rougly 10.000 Euros...for a projector that's ancient :)
