View Full Version : The first look at my SP mod for Halo CE

Well, now that I have most of my problems solved, I can finally start working on the SP mod that I have wanted to make for Halo CE. The chances of me releasing it aren't all that great because it won't be much compared to CMT's SPv2, but it's the first time I ever mod Halo CE. Anyways, here is the first weapon that I have managed to make, keep in mind that it is my first time using Sapien.

Stealth Plasma Rifle :

The Covenant Elites have had many casualties while fighting the humans due to the fact the they were always in close-medium range combat and always easy targets for most human weaponry. So, a new weapon had to be developed that had the power to take out targets easily and the accuracy to fight at a long range to minimize casualties. It also had to be light enough to be able to carry around in every type of battlefield. Stealth was another way to bring down the death rate, so that also had to be considered. The product of their months of brainstorming was the Stealth Plasma Rifle. It was stronger than the ordinary rifles used, and it had better accuracy and faster plasma. However, it could only fire 100 shots before the weapon had to be replaced and it shot much slower as well. The first prototypes of this weapon are only used in the hands of Special Operations and Stealth Elites, due to the small number created.

The Covenant Hunters are a formidable weapon, but they are vulnerable to long range weapons and easy targets from behind. Something had to be done. A new breed of Hunters was born. With their new armor, they would be able to have active camouflage, therefore being able to sneak up on enemies and kill them in one hit. They were also equipped with shields similar to the ones used by elites. However, these upgrades left the armor too heavy for the Hunters to wear, so they had to be made lighter, thinner and unfortunately, weaker. This also drained energy that would have been used for the arm mounted fuel-rod gun. The heavy weapon had to be replaced with a small, and not very powerful, plasma weapon similar to the plasma pistol. This left the Hunters a lot less powerful then before, so the metal shields were switched back to the ones used on the current Hunter armor in service. These Hunters excel in melee combat and are rarely seen using their arm mounted rifle.

Pics : Coming Soon

This is all I have for now, but more will come later. Note that this is a Work In Progress and anything here is subject to change. Any comments will be appreciated.

I am also looking for a free Modeling program so I can remodel the new weapons.

So far its ok, but I like the fact you have a story and an actual idea. Rather than "I'm just going to go along and see what happens" approach others have :D

And you judge this mod by the size of his font.

Yes, definately needs more then just a modified plasma rifle.

I just started, so there's not much done yet.

At least change the cubemap...

I'm working on it.

Hunters sound interesting, though. You plan to remodel them, I take it?

I was planning to just make them have active camouflage, seeing as I don't know how to model yet. If I could model, then yes, I would remodel them. Any help would be greatly appreciated with this.

flying elites for great justice.

and make them look different from the stock PR and hunters.

Flying Elites, eh? I'll see if I can do that. I'll try as hard as I can to fulfill both your...requests.

before you get too into this I'd deffinetly be learning to model.

Ya, I know, but every modeling program that I tried didn't work. I've tried Blender, but I couldn't load the models I wanted to modify and I couldn't get the hang of it enough to make models of that quality from scratch. I've also tried Wings 3D, but it didn't want to let me modify the model. As I've said before, any help would be great.

Do you have to buy those programs, or are they free?

Your making some decent progress, but try to do something other then just HMT modding. I like how your actually putting a story behind it, other than just making a sniper rifle shoot rockets or something. I look forward to more work from you.

Yes you could always crack or keygen it, but that would be ilegal, its your choice. I personally bought my copy, though i do have friends who have illegal versions.

FlamingRain, your sig is very disturbing and i doubt CAD wanted that to be quoted. Last i saw CAD's message wasnt even there.

oh yeah, there is also a free modeling tool similar to 3ds max called gmax (http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax)
You need the ghosts JMS Exporter to use this

Here is the code for the MS

Warez whore. <>

Hotrod, don't bother. If Gmax doesn't do it for you, and you're not willing to shell out $$$ for a decent modeling program, don't stoop to pirating one. Besides, you'd only be able to take advantage of an advanced modeling program if you're already proficient in the version with a less user-friendly UI.

Gmax can export animations, they have HAX (Halo Animation eXporter). Not sure where the linky is, I'll find it eventually.

OK, all these different programs are confusing me... Witch one would be the best for just remodeling current models (for now)?

I'd say GMAX. Don't waste 3ds trials until you're very good with the 3ds-style interface and modeling in general. They're almost clones of each other.

I haven't had much time to work on this lately, too much school work to do (very busy year, I.B preparatory program). When I have the time to make some more progress, I'll post it
