Who still uses Gearbox? Me, I check back every once in a while to see if anything new is posted. But for a majority of the time I just use Halo2Vista. It's been getting really dead over there.

Yep, we're all idiots...

I guarantee you that every single administrator and moderator is smarter than you are. You weren't banned for fun... you were banned because you're a horrible poster, you flame other people for no reason, you're blatantly racist, and you just love to troll.

Nobody was ever confused about the system; nobody couldn't figure out how to unban someone.... Permanent bans are just that: permanent.

Also, the only way the system would mess up is if you had already accrued gratuitous warnings anyway... good riddance to you.

Yeah this isnt probably the place to talk about it, but I'd rather get it out in the open, the actual reason I was account banned. Seeing as many people dont understand exactly why I was. They were spoon fed bs? Plus GBX admins/mods lying about the whole event.

So as you will read, I was placed in to the ban bin. Now if you check the logs again, I had to make a thread because Ennui didnt make a topic. I asked in that post why exactly was I banned. Ennui replied with some thing on the lines of "you were banned due to your warning points were over the systems allowance". Funny thing is, it wasnt. I can count, and it was under the amount the system should ban some one for. So I asked Ennui what was happening. She then replied with some thing on the lines of "Oh it turns out, you werent put here by the system, you were placed here by some one"

Which brings me to my next question, why did she lie? No reason to lie.

She then went back to her story of "you were placed here by the system automatically" So I replied with, fair enough as the system is obviously broken right now as I have lower points than the system should ban me for, can you remove me from ban bin.

Did she? Nope, took a week. She said she was "trying to fix the system as it was currently broken."

System was broken, admins lied, admins tried to fix system?

Also, reason I was perma banned was because I was fed up of talking to a bunch of idiots, Kybo do you see the log where I said "forget it, just perm ban me" and thats why I got banned because I broke rules after to get banned. After spidoman though I wouldnt get banned :)

Which time is this? Keep in mind you were banned long before (nearly a year) the warning system was implemented. So this is all really irrelevant, since you should've been permabanned on the spot. I don't know exactly what happened, and I would look it up, but as I said: it's irrelevant.

Did she? Nope, took a week. She said she was "trying to fix the system as it was currently broken."

System was broken, admins lied, admins tried to fix system?
Ennui wouldn't lie to you about why you were banned... You have to actually really care about something in order to lie about it. The system was funky for a while (fixed a long time ago), and it is now fixed. Sorry for any errors that occured -- oh wait! You should've been permabanned anyway. Nevermind.

Anyway, what really happened was indeed that the system improperly counted your warnings that had expired as ones that hadn't. She completely admitted what the issue was. If you'd like to see the whole thread again, I can forward it to you.

Also, reason I was perma banned was because I was fed up of talking to a bunch of idiots, Kybo do you see the log where I said "forget it, just perm ban me" and thats why I got banned because I broke rules after to get banned. After spidoman though I wouldnt get banned :)

Personally I though these forums where for ALL ages, now posting a video of a guy nearly getting hit by a car, then seeing a person saying "damn I wish he got hit"...I dont see why I shouldnt say some thing about it.

I though we had to get "warned" before...
Quote:
Keep content appropriate. Do not use profanity, be vulgar or offensive in any way, or discuss illegal activity. This forum should be safe for all ages. If in doubt, do not post or PM a moderator first.
I dont see the content in that thread to be for all ages.

Least this ban will give me more time to spend with my famly, especially after hearing my moms sickness =\

Colin:

This is your warning system. You get 3 strikes until you're banned permanently.

As far as that thread is concerned, although the original thread's validity could be called into question, your post is black and white. It's not your job to keep a check on the content posted here, and surely not your job to swear those people out who may have broken a rule. Your post broke the rules, you're here. End of story.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

HippyGoth:
You was banned for calling people "lame life ****ers", not the words idiot or ignorant.

Show me threads where those incidents have been missed and if they are not to old, I'll review them.

That's your second ban. In your first ban, you agreed that you deserved the ban.

I then count 5 more bans under the 9mm-man username. The part you're talking about was the 5th in that series. You should've been permabanned anyway!
Sheesh. I think you take the cake with 7 total time bans (resulting in 2 permabans), and one instant permanent ban (by yours truly)

I am not lying about anything at all. I have the threads right here. Want me to forward them to you?

And did you miss the part about the Tor block being temporarily deactivated? Apparently so, since you so brazenly brag about being able to get on.
And if you're using a proxy, just keep in mind that we don't block proxies at all. We simply see through them. If you decided to post, we'd see it immediately and ban you again. Kthkxbye

Yea I agree. I never really liked how Gearbox was run. It seemed like it was too strict. Every once in a while I would see people sent to the ban bin who I never thought would end up there. People who have been posting there for years with 1000's of posts. I think Masterz was banned once, not sure. That made me kind of afraid to post anything that seemed even the least bit opinionated in fear of me being banned. Disagreeing with something could be considered a "flame".

I think you misunderstand what Gearbox is. The gearbox forums are run by a company, so of COURSE they're going to be more strict (though honestly, we're really not THAT strict). This site is better for just wanking around doing whatever for sure, but Gearbox was THE place to be fore Halo stuff.

You can disagree with anything you want, just no ad hominem insults and you'll be fine.

I believe I've had two accounts banned thar. +1 if you count the time when rapture was being a little bitch and asked that my account be re-banned because he was the original mod who banned my "kornman00" account.
You see? If people like Kornman, who have contributed much to the Halo community, get banned that is saying something about how badly things are run. True it is a company, but I feel a lot "safer" here.:) I would sometimes get infractions for the stupidest things.

It's not like he was the first one. Of COURSE a company is going to ban you from their forums if you keep posting crap about how it's bad. DUH :confused2:

IIRC, Nitro was banned for something minor, TEMPORARILY, and then his whole crew came and spammed up the forums, resulting in a permanent ban for all involved.

I personally disagree with the warning system. I think it would be better if we went back to the old system of just banning people if they were out of line, but of course one person ruins it for everyone...

Spying on my records? Creepy. Yea but I was also basing my opinions off other people I saw banned.

There is some good to the forums. Like if I ever do a search for a particular subject I need help on, I search there first. It has the large archive because it's been around longer.

Oh but I hate the limit for searching terms. Words like UI and AI aren't easy to search for, but are commonly used in Halo.

Yeah, warning systems have too many loopholes :|

Basically, you're stuck between possible personal bias (mind you, even a warning system's not immune to that, since someone has to give the warnings), or a standardised system that's easy enough to get around. Personally, I prefer the first.

This is, of course, spurred by the most mature and innovative members I have ever met in my life. I mean, besides having sex with goats(and with each other, of course) they’re so brilliant that they couldn’t find themselves out of a cardboard box with a dildo with a built in compass in it. Maybe if they shove it far enough up their Ã*śś they could get what ever peanut brain they have in order to not shĩt in their diapers. I’ve met some ignorant immature Ã*śśholes in my life but these children take the cake even beyond a Halo 2 fanboy frothing at the mouth.

But 9mm is a much more comfortable moniker to address someone by than "Limited." I can't stand that alias.

Also, this may sound like a dumb question, and I know how people are going to respond (not answer, mind you) when I ask it, but here goes... how were you such a well-respected member at HM but not at GBX?

You see? If people like Kornman, who have contributed much to the Halo community, get banned that is saying something about how badly things are run.
First of all, Gearbox is not strictly a gathering place for HCE players. In fact, the BiA forums have always been more fast-paced than the Halo one (sans the loldrama of the members, and the wrath of Ennui).

Second, modding Halo isn't a "get out of jail free" card. It doesn't matter how extensively you program, hack, or scratch-build content for a video game; that has nothing to do with how well you can converse, behave, be able to construct intelligent posts in a debate or arbitrate in a shenagan, or be accepted as an all-around affable personage by a community. It doesn't matter how many geeks and techno-junkies inhabit the site; regardlessly, it is first and foremost a forum, an asylum of reason, discussion, and sensible debate... not an anime or Star Wars convention. Fuxxing with computer utilities doesn't add inches to your dick, and that's something many people seem to have a penchant for disregarding.

I stopped going to GBX because of the McGuffin/Texrat/deja_vu circle-jerk that was constantly going on.

Nice try. I almost believed your hyperbole.

What part of "planned" did you not get before? I would think you of all people would understand planned instances, especially after you "died." The only difference between you and I is that I grew up a while back and you sticked with your group making "funnies" on forums. You talk about how others shit up this forum when you and your band of misfits are the usual cause of problems around here (and CMT for that matter, but that's a different battle).
I believe leaving (being banned) from a popular place and then leaving for a new place would more qualify yourself under your "misfits" accusation.
You misfits of GBX.

Considering it was only a temp ban, I highly doubt that. Nice try though. Make sure to make another alt and cause some more grief, ok?

Leaving does not equal being banned. Aggie did not get permabanned, he simply stopped going to GBX and came here, much like many of us did. That makes him more of an immigrant than a misfit.
