Well I boot up my custom build comp (it's over a year old and has never let me down..yet) and everything seems to be running fine...except I get a black screen (actually 2 because of 2 monitors)...

BIOS not showing up...the screen is black doh

Windows XP is not loading...yesterday I had this same problem and it loaded Windows but didn't show anything on the screen....I logged in and suddenly the screen appeared...

It seems my GFX card is either broken or a really faulty driver...what am I suppose to do?

Things Tried:
1.Total Power Cycle + BIOS Battery
2.I can't change my gfx card because I only have PCI,PCI-e slots...and I gave away my only other PCI card...so I can't check that.

Any ideas?

ive had this problem before, it was a faulty driver, i had to go into Safe mode and do a System restore, but BIOS showed up for me

Or try using WInternals(if you job has a copy, thats how i got it) And try replaceing the card with a temp card to see if it will start if the system restore doesent work

Unplug the hard drives then try turning it on. If you've got a bios screen showing up, then it's the hard drive. If you still dont have anything, make sure the monitors are actually plugged in, recheck the gpu seating, then try again.

Any bios beep codes?
Never installed the speaker for it (yes...there is a mini optional one ^^)

And I unplugged, cleaned, unscrewed my MB and reseted everything...booting with all kind of settings (HDD on/off,Dual etc)...I guess it's a faulty GFX card...

I'll try to get an eVGA by tomorrow...something around 100$-200$ 8_series.

Ok I have a new gfx card...some polish company 8600GT...seems to be running fine...but the black screens haven't disappeared..

also the PSU is fine...the CPU reseted...I have a bad feeling it might be the Motherboard.

The beep codes don't require speakers, if I'm not mistaken. One beep means something like the cpu is fine, multiple quick beeps means cpu is overheated or something, etc.

They require a speaker...mine was optional attachable...:)

I know this because when I programmed the FlyCam I forgot to remove the BEEP thingy because I couldn't here anything :p

Do you actually have the speaker then? If thats the case plug it in and see if it gives you any funny beeps or anything.

Have you tried running with only one DIMM installed? Very unlikely but that might have something to do with it...

Another thing I just noticed is that I used a 4 pin power supply cpu connector for a 8 pin connector on the board :confused2:...so 4 pins were always empty...

Could be that this would be the problem...my other comp also only has a 4 point connector...but I mean this worked for a year so could this be the problem?

The speaker thing...my friend managed accidentally to attach the real speakers to that thing...I'm going to try that too since I can't find the real one.
