Alright...I have Half-life 2 and a nVidia 7800 GTX...
I'm playing on a 1280x1024 monitor...
Why do I see no difference between HL2 with AA(16x) and without?

Do you have your settings in the Nvidia settings task bar thingy set to "controlled by application"?

Because there is no such thing as 16x anti aliasing. You've been playing with the anisotropic filtering. And with that, I recommend 8x AF, for me, when I use 16x AF with HL2 things seem to have purple specular maps. >.>

The 8800 series has 8x and 16x AA now.. And its an option I can run on my 7900gt too. Theres alot more AA modes that the drivers don't list, but work if using a program like Rivatuner or nHancer.:)

Second the purple spec maps are from ALT+Tabbing usually, I run 16xAF with no problem and so do a lot of my clan mates who don't expeirence that problem.

I get that rendering bug on my 6800LE and my 7600 GT when I have 16AF on, but I don't alt-tab at all.

I get that bug, but only sometimes. I don't alt tab. It only happens on the highest setting though, so I just leave it at second highest and it goes away. I have an ati x800le
