i could do it myself, but that means it'll be quite shit, and i only know really basic html.
i'm not interested in some very complex php stuff, i just need a simple thing, with maybe 5 pages. it needs some kind of gallery too, and i need to be able to maintain it myself, to add things etc.
anyone want to help me out?

www.mutantspoon.com (http://www.mutantspoon.com)
www.cakovan.com (http://www.cakovan.com)
www.autodestruct.com (http://www.autodestruct.com)
just somethign simple. help me and i luv you.

If you don't need any complex news system etc...
...it's really easy to do by yourself (this requires Photoshop skills of course...which I so fucking lack off)
HTML is not really needed for this whole process.
Making your website in Photoshop, Slicing, getting it together in Dreamweaver and that's basically it. :)
I'm not the man for doing websites...I am just giving some suggestions :p

www.beeles-place.be (http://www.beeles-place.be) and www.gevelrenovaties.f2b.be (http://www.gevelrenovaties.f2b.be)
Beeles-place is a website for my class, so most is locked for outsiders. And the second one you need to enter by clicking on "ga binnen". Both are still works in progress
Both sites I made, beeles-place will soon have a halo 2 maps section too.
If you want you can always contact me, I will be happy to help you out where I can.

If you want, Tweek, I have no problems with hosting it for you and I could get you a decent lay-out as well. I'm quite good with photoshop, actually.

I'd use photoshop to make one big image, and then use something like M$Paint to cut out the pieces.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I've got a couple free templates that I've made... they were once on freeprotemplates.com, but they weren't on there for long.

These are very old, I can dig around and see if I still have the coded files, but I'm not sure.

Actually, you can create an entire page in photoshop, and cut it up into pieces or "slices" using the slice tool. Then you can use the "Jump to image ready" option under the file menu to start working in image ready to add buttons, text, and links to each slice then export it as html. It will generate all the images, and place them accordingly in the html file as tables and cells. Its a real easy way to do a simple web page using nothing but photoshop.

Photoshop, and Microsoft Front page are the programs you'll need to make a photoshop website. :)
I could help, but I'm not that good at photoshop.

i don't intend to make a photochopped background, but more of a 3d-rendered background with fancy wireframe overlay shit and whatnot.
jahrain, i never even knew that was possible, i've gotta try that out.

Bah! Make it from scratch :p. I made the one in my sig in MS Web Developer Express and using the tutorials on W3Schools (http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp) (apart from the gallery object (http://spgm.sourceforge.net/)).

There are many flash portfolio site generators floating around the web.

If you'll wait a while for me to finish my system you can join my site... well, you'll probably want to have a personal portfolio anyway, but my site will be a community portfolio type thing, so you could set up an account for free with a hopefully easy to use system already in place.
It's hard to explain, I'm not planning on making a huge networking site like facebook or anything, just a collection of portfolios under one roof and rating system so people can find cool things and get their cool things seen by others using the system.
Now if only I were done with it already...
