Well i went and bought Halo 2 for Vista and the graphics are really good and the sound is perfect but the game skips/lags just in the menu then when in a match it plays lke a really bad laggy game but everyone is in the green connection. is this a graphics card problem, should i get a new one??????? some one please help :(

You're graphics card is horrible. Tell me what your price-range is and I'll pick you out a new one.

Video card is your problem. I'm also assuming that since it only has 64 MB of its own memory, it's stealing 64-192 MB from system RAM via Turbocache (many of Nvidia's low-end PCI-e cards do that).

Actually, if you lower your settings sufficiently, you can hit 30 fps and above. I'm serious. In fact, I recommend running at low settings because on lowest, it looks just as good as the Xbox version, and on high, the difference is minimal but with a serious performance drop. 1024x768 or 800x600 on lowest should do you fine - the game will still look good and the framerates will improve.

The lowest I would go with H2V is a eVGA 7600GS (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130021), but if your dad would let you I'd get an eVGA 7600GT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130062) instead.

lmao that is the funniest nonsense I have heard in a while. It's worse than Kiwidoggie's techno-bullshit. No, the LCD screen has never been your problem, never will.

Lower your settings? Go to the video options, that's how. If you don't even know how to change graphical settings I pity you.

Remember, the settings a game automatically puts you on are not always ideal.

Xetsuei, I don't think an upgrade is a viable option for him at this moment, so he's better off adjusting his graphical settings.

Read up on those. I'm not joking, I read them when I was 9 years old. But still, saying that a monitor causes graphics lag is really ridiculous. The only way in which a monitor can hamper game performance is if its refresh rate is too low, it is not displaying an image correctly, or if it just don't work.

back on topic: Go to the H2V main menu, then to options, then set everything to low. Problem solved.

No, it doesn't... I wish people would stop saying that. On low, there are virtually no visible bump maps at all, no shadows, and no bullet marks. The textures are so low res that you can't see the lines on the sword at anything higher than 800 x 600. Medium will look as good as the Xbox version on modern resolutions, try that instead.

I guess it's because I've been playing the Xbox version on a 55" HDTV, and it looks kind of washed out and blurry even with the 360 enhancement.

I normally pay little attention to the bullet holes and lighting in a game like Halo. As long as I can see the colors fine and there's blood, I'm satisfied.

Also in grammar?

Please, if you already suck with computers (which is not completely true since you knew the specs) try to use correct spelling and grammar.

If your primary language is not English, it's ok but at least try;like we are trying to help you. :)

Your graphic card is too weak...actually I have the BFG 7600GT SE lying next to me. ;)

LCD Screens are the best, imho. :eyesroll:

LCD screens suck ass. The refresh rates and trailing on them is horrible. I'd take my big chunky box monitor in quality over them any day. Plasma screen TV's look like shit to me. Especially the big ones.

Mr Buckshot
September 12th, 2007, 10:55 PM
Technically CRT monitors can display the image a little better than LCDs can, but CRT monitors are just too thick and heavy for my liking. And since I like a big widescreen (20" WSXGA), a CRT would probably cause my desk to cave in (it's one of those cheap plastic foldables).

and I knew that one of my statements was uncalled for, but I am serious - reading those does help a lot. I mean, I was a newb at PCs a few years back, this guy is the same, just a little older. After all, the only way to evolve from a newb is to learn, and that's exactly what I did.

SLI them for more performace
well the way i see it, for the price of SLI 2 8800GTx/s, you could just buy a fricken ulra 1GB (if you're talking about the 512mb card i mean)
wait... i thought vista doesnt like SLIC

Mr Buckshot

SLI and Crossfire are not worth it if you are budget-concerned. You pay double the price for a 30-50% framerate gain when a single card already provides superb performance (assuming it's high end like an 8800 GTX).

If every frame is of utmost importance, dual-card setups are must-haves, but for most of us one is enough.
