View Full Version : More hard drive woes

So, I finally got around to starting the buying process for a hard drive, when I discovered lots of scary reviews on all the Seagate drives I looked at. They either were DOA or failed after a short time. So, now I need new recommendations for 300-400GB SATA hard drives. I don't want to take the chance on an RMA. I don't have the time, the patience or the income to deal with any more DOAs. As a result, if it has over around ten scary-looking reviews, overall, it's a no-go.

EDIT: This one looks good:

EDIT: This one won some kind of "customer's choice" award, but I'm wary about the reviews that show it failing after a few days or months. If there's anything I hate, it's buying something, being satisfied for a few days or weeks, then having it fail completely.
