The scary:
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- To some Oklahoma football fans, there are things that just aren't done in the heart of Sooner Nation, and one of them is to walk into a bar wearing a Texas Longhorns T-shirt.
That's exactly what touched off a bloody skirmish that left a Texas-shirt-wearing fan nearly castrated and an Oklahoma fan facing aggravated assault charges that could put him in prison for up to five years.
...and the ironic:
Thomas, who once lived in Houston and became a Texas fan during the heyday of star running back Earl Campbell, is still recovering from his injuries but has returned to work as a meat cutter at a Sam's Club warehouse store.

Ouch...
Jesus, is that sort of thing common? Over here we're pretty loyal to our respective footy teams, but I doubt anyone besides Bulldogs fans have gone that far...

Holy Shit, How did I miss this post for three pages!
You all don't understand how important football is in Oklahoma, especially between the Sooners and the Longhorns. It is like dealing with a bunch of English football hooligans.
I am a student at OU and have lived in Norman for 13 collective years. One in every ten Oklahomans own a crimson and cream t-shirt that reads on the front,"BEAT THE RUSH" and on the back, "HATE TEXAS NOW."
Nuts or no nuts, you can't walk into Oklahoma and not expect to have someone talk smack over football and not be ready to back it up.
MORAL: Choose where to wear your Longhorns t-shirt carefully.

LOL, We will be back! After all we can't have all the glory all the time. I imagine we could be back in the National Championship game before the decade is over.
You know, there are obvious reasons why the Red River Rivalry is played in Dallas and not Austin or Norman. Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue in either college town?

One of the funniest nights of my life was cruising downtown Dallas before the infamous Texas-OU game (coming up btw). One one side of the street were OU fans, on the other side were the cool guys. Me and a buddy drove up and down yelling shit out the window. On the Texas side we shouted "Boomer Sooners!" On the OU side we screamed "Hook 'em Horns!"
After a couple of passes we looked in the mirrors to watch the big street fight. :D

Show up on the tenth of October and we'll stir the crowd up! I may be a Sooner, but I am not above doing a little instigating.

Um...Again? Let me remind you that, out of the last seven years, we have beat the Longhorns five times, not to mention we have been to three national championship games in the same amount of time. Also, we have five more national championships under our belt compared to the horns.
BUT, the horns did gain the national title in 2005. SO, like I said we can't have all the glory.

Did you happen to read the the following stinging reminder on the same page?
Four times during 2000-2004, a loss to Oklahoma was what kept Texas from playing in the Big 12 Championship Game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_12_Championship_Game).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_River_Shootout#_note-full_plate)

But, you know, I live in the present my friend. Right now we are ranked third. Where are the longhorns? Oh yeah, you're back a few places. We shall see in October, though.
