So I've got a .jpg on my desktop, and when I double-click on it, nothing happens. It should be opening in Windows Photo Gallery (the default, I don't know if that's it), but it isn't. Any ideas?

right click it, go to properties, and make sure the program it opens with is windows image viewer

Man, I tried that... I'm beginning to think there's a real problem somewhere...

Any other ideas? I'm running Home Basic, if that makes any difference...

It happens to me on my dad's computer, which is running XP.

How much ram you got?

2 GB. Could this be virus-related? I mean, I use a combination of Ad-Aware and the Windows Virus Scan (Defender?) to keep my PC protected, and I didn't think it would take more...

Definitely not a RAM or virus problem. Try reinstalling.

I get an error when trying to use the Photo Viewer :(

But yeah, I just use firefox or M$Paint.

And I don't (uses Ultimate).

Weird.

No problems here along those lines, Home Premium and Ultimate OS's running.

The problem disappeared... it seems I can't open .jpg files from the desktop, though...

Also, Vista's really getting annoying... How can I get rid of all the pop-ups that ask me if I'm administrator or whatever (the ones that just say 'continue,' 'skip,' and 'cancel')?
