Bum told us about the upcoming patch here a long time ago, they've been spending a lot of time on it, so hopefully it'll address all of our concerns as bum says it will. I might end up liking this game again, but I'll never love it as long as hosting servers and joining them is a gold-exclusive feature.

D: Why couldn't they release it over the summer.
Oh well, I really want to see the change log.

Not true.

K, then go shoot a video for me of you taking your silver account and trying to host a server ingame or joining a player-hosted server.

He was referring to dedicated servers most likely.

I dont think you can dedicate Live on a silver account though....I may be wrong..

You can. You just can't join it if it's on the same computer (and if it's using the same LIVE ID you play with).

Yeah you can, on a different pc on your own lan... how cool is that? Oh and you can even join it yourself... isn't h2v great?!?! (well could have been :p, or may still become)

this is probably going to sound like a silly question, but will the patch work with Halo 2 installed on XP using wowloader?
Con

don't you need to be signed into live to get the updates? Don't think so...
Pooky
September 18th, 2007, 11:50 PM
Well, a lot of games that update themselves also allow you to download the updates manually (Quake 4, Neverwinter Nights). I haven't even tried to update the game through Live because I'm reasonably sure it won't work.

Patch 2 - 4 months = -3?

Patch 2 - 4 months = -3?
So
S = {-1, 1}
So either we're due, or it's coming in one month. Ok.

What bounces?

:O
Kiwi speaks of nothing! What he meant to say was "Super Bounces DO NOT EXIST! They were taken of the game a long time ago!" You heard me and him say that, now begone!

I hope they un-gayafy it alittle :) Bounces/Random Custom map crashes fixed please.
And FALL damage. There are some parts in Campaign that have fall damage where you NEED to fall. Very annoying.

Huh? I never experienced that, where are you talking about?

There is no FALL damage in Halo 2. Or thats what I thought??
Con
September 21st, 2007, 07:51 PM
There is, but you need to fall from very high up to get it.

The best example is on the level where you have to cut the cable and kill the Heretic leader, theres a shaft you have to jump down to finish the level, but if you land in a certain (very large) area of the floor, you instantly die. Very irritating to have to start from the last checkpoint several times on Legendary because I couldn't figure out where I needed to fall in order to not die.

Sure there wasn't an elevator you were supposed to take? :awesome:
Pooky
September 21st, 2007, 08:12 PM
EDIT: You're right, I just checked there and there is indeed a tiny elevator. But it still makes little sense that there would be fall damage if you jump on the elevator but NOT if you jump farther and land on the ground. It shouldn't even be far enough to trigger Halo 2's fall timer. Plus, I'm not the only one who has reported fall damage...

Yeah, people have known for a long time about the fall damage.

I think it was meant to be a super bounce counter, but then they fixed it..
Con
September 22nd, 2007, 12:49 AM
I doubt that. I think it's meant to be exactly what it is...fall damage. Makes sense.

If they were trying to add Halo 1 fall damage they failed... it's sporadic and rarely actually kills you
Con
September 23rd, 2007, 11:31 PM
Yes Fried, Bungie failed at doing the fall damage in their own game. :downs:
Pooky
September 24th, 2007, 10:48 PM
When the hell did I say anything about Bungie? Fall damage in H2V is absolutely nothing like it is in Halo 2 for Xbox.
