I've been hearing 2 different things about the co-op mode when I search on google, so I decided to come here to confirm it.

Some sources tell me that the four-player co-op is only on LIVE and is not on split screen (2 players only). Others tell me that four players can still play on split-screen. Is the latter true?

If it's true, I am definitely buying another 2 gamepads for my 360, bringing the total to 4.

You can only have four player split screen co op over a system link game. The limit is 2 players in co op per 360.

you can have only 2 people on 1 xbox for co-op, thats the limitation.

you can add the other 2 people via Live, or on another Xbox on sytemlink.

hope that's clear enough.

Click campaign then change network to local and it says "Play only on this Xbox 360 console, Up to 4 players may play splitscreen"

No, it's only 2 people per 360 for split-screen. I know because :

1. Bungie said so.

2. I tried it.

it may say that, but you're still WRONG though.

Well, I guess I won't be buying an extra 2 controllers then. Thanks, guys. So if there's only one console, co-op is limited to MC and the Arbiter, right?

yeah. you can add 2 more players via LIVE.

BUT, BOTH players need a LIVE account, or your "friend" must sign in as a "guest"

Well, I hear that when I buy Halo 3 this December, all editions come with a 48-hour live trial right? I guess I can use that to play with you guys from H2V :P
