Hi, I finally have enough money to get a new graphics card for my new computer (Gateway GT5428, Windows Vista Home Preimium and Fedora 7 Linux, 1gb RAM, and an Intel 82945G integrated graphics card). I have not been able to run several games I wanted to play when I got my new computer, including Halo 2 Vista (after installing Halo 2, it would say the game failed to initialize and that insignificant resources were found), because of the incompatibilities I have found with my integrated graphics card. I am looking at a price range of $80-90, and was wondering what graphics cards I can find in that price range that will let me at least play Halo 2, and that is Linux compatible.

Geforce 8500 sucks, go for this:

Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT. I have this video card and it rocks - not the best but certainly a superb deal for $90 USD.
Also if you want to get a good video card for $80-90, you have to buy online - the ones you find at Fry's Electronics or Best Buy are so overpriced it's not even funny.

DOn't go anything lower then 8600gt in the 8 seires. I would recommend this card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127286), an 8600GT overclocked.
Its covered under warrenty if you overclock it to the max the software will allow. It runs my games great.
