Sins of a Solar Empire is an entirely real-time 4x Space game. Yes, entirely real time. That means no turns, guys. Previews have placed gameplay at somewhere between badass and silky-smooth with complexity and politics out the arse. There are even inter-system superguns.

Sounds patently retarded.

Just kidding, that sounds pretty cool. Any chance of free betas? :pervert:

I'll stick with EVE.

Looks awesome. I love space games but I haven't really played any for a while.

Sounds like you'll spend a pretty penny hiring advisers and tacticians just to play half decently :p

If you preorder you get into the betas. While I'm not in the beta (I am poor), I think it's pretty cool that the beta already allows people to begin mods for it.

Inter-system guns?

Genesis Cannon what?

I'll stick with EVN. (+rep if you know what game I'm talking about. :>)

The battles look good, and I hope those battles aren't rare occurrences that you'll barely see in a game. Real Time sounds like fun, I just hope that a good balance of fighting, economy, and other basics are achieved.

Does that phrase at the bottom roughly translate to 'we are sooo fucked?'

I think it just says the name of it in Japanese. I saw this game in a preview in PC gamer issue, the tiny screenshots on it just doesn't do it justice.

^ He's right.

The genesis cannon could easily hold a space colony in its interior. One shot from it will wipe out over half of the planets surface and annihilate almost all life on earth.

Escape velocity nova?

Never tried it.

The fighting is supposed to be a huge part if you want to actually advance outside your system with full dominance (supposedly they all start out packed together).

Escape Velocity Nova is the best (space based) Sci-Fi game I've ever played, with the possible exception of a modded-to-hell-and-back Bridge Commander. Seriously though, EVN is unbeatable.

As for SoaSE: I thought it was already out? Guess I was mistaken. Regardless, it looks a lot better than when I last saw it, so maybe I'll have to pick up a copy. :)

Edit: also GalCiv2 gets a mention well I'm on space games.

Galatic is turn based, this game is played in real time. :woot:

Epic win. It will be a definite buy for me.
