I love reading things that perfectly sum up exactly how I've felt for a while but so far haven't been able to sufficiently put into words.

It's really friggin long, and in the end it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but it just sums up so much of it so well. I got a lot of good venting out of this woman's rant- it's like the aftereffects of having my own good rant, but without the whole burning anger part of writing it.

I'm not very open about my religious when I'm around people. I go to church once in a awhile, but I'm agnostic. I think its not possible to understand god fully and I don't we ever will. I question whether Jesus actually was the messiah or existed at all, there have been hundreds of said messiahs before him that did everything he had done. Theres been said messiahs that have been born of a virgin, became a disciple at 12, healed the sick, crucified and returned to life 3 days later. Think about that for a min, its all the same stuff.

But I'm not an atheist, I just believe this world is too complexed to understand, yet I do believe theres a God out there, but we know nothing about him.

Atheists shouldn't be angry. They're not the ones getting slaughtered over tiny little differences between members of the same religion. This article is just someone being angry for the sake of being angry, not any legitimate reason.

As far as the military thing goes, those superior officers were - get this - severely disciplined to the extent of discharge and suspension of service. But the writer wouldn't want you to know that. And, the same superior officers that pressured atheist soldiers to become Christian did it to other non-Christian soldiers. It's not a big conspiracy against atheists, as the author wants us to believe.

About Bush Senior. Well, he's George Bush. What did you expect him to say? Many people say that about people of other religions that aren't their own, it's just never talked about because those people aren't in positions of power.

And the stuff about creationism and evolutionism - it has nothing to do with Atheism. It's about science vs. religion, not atheism vs. religion. You think she'd get that, but no.

And about AIDS and condoms: That's the Catholic Chruch. There are more Protestants in the world and Catholics, and you'd think she'd write about Catholic Hispanics in the US getting teen pregnant because of condom use (or lack thereof), but she doesn't. Instead, she jumps on the African AIDS epidemic bandwagon. Yeah, as if I haven't heard this fucking sob story a million times already. Give it a fucking rest.

And about abortions, it's not all religion based. If she did one second of research she'd know that there are some people who believe that before the third trimester, the baby is alive, and not for religious reasons, but for scientific reasons. And here I thought science was an atheist's best friend.

Galileo: Oh come on. Those were different times, and apologizing for something that happened hundreds of years ago isn't quite on the Catholic Chruch's top priority list.

Advice columnists: It's a fucking opinion they're writing. I thought we were supposed to respect other's opinions, and if we don't agree with them, just let it go. Seems this lady has a lot of trouble with this basic concept.

Counseling: They aren't forcing the religion-based counseling on you.\

At the preachers and women bit: No women ever go to a religious figure for domestic abuse advice. They go to the police, or one of those shelters.

Praying: If people are praying to get material goods, I doubt God is listening. It's kinda like crossing your fingers. It's more reassurance than anything else. She acts like prayer gets everyone everything they want.
