(Slipped with the camera a tad, sorry)
Both time delay shots.
McNaught's Comet, the brightest comet to be seen from New Zealand for 100 years! Should be seen in the south-west skies of New Zealand for the next few weeks!
Unfortuneatly for you Australians, it can be almost mistaken for a plane D=

Large (3072x2304, 4:3) images are avaliable if anyone wants them

Not nearly as good as 2003 Leonid Meteor shower.

Since it's around for the next few weeks, hopefully I can get some clear nights between now and then, hopefully I can get some more photos :)

I've seen one comet before, less than ten years ago, but I cannot be any more specific. The only thing in space I normally see is the International Space Station (it's a bit distinctive, no?). Those pictures, though... they are so awesome I almost have difficulty believin' in them. They'd make good desktops, yeah?

Clear but a bit cloudy over the horizon tonight, hopefully I can get some more pics.

Edit: Varmint, if you can give me your desktop res I can resize one of the three pics for you.
Editit: Well unfortuneatly the cloud has rolled in over the horizon in the past half an hour, so it doesn't look like i'll be taking any photos tonight. Sorry guys!

The tail on the comet is insanely long! Tonight wasn't very promising, it was alot dimmer than last night, and was alot more cloudy.

To give you a bit of perspective on how big the tail on this thing was, I outlined what you could see just with the naked eye.

Actually, my desktop res is 1024X768. These pictures are just fine the way they are, thanks! It sucks having a 6yr-old Dell monitor with max res 1024X768, but it's what I have to work with.

You know you're a gamer when you see the shiny lights in the background and the first thing you think is "omg, HDR"

It's getting pretty dim now, i'm having to up the ISO and that subsequently makes the photos alot noisier. :-(

I've seen two comets in my lifetime, and that's probably all the comets I'm going to see, since both of them have a cycle of a few hundred years :P

I've seen Hale Bopp once, when I was very young, and Haley's Comet a few years later.
