Incase you all missed this...

Apparently, the Team that was created to port Halo 2 for Vista has moved onto different projects, according to Bum has Knife (http://forums.haloonwindowsvista.com/forums/permalink/6084/6083/ShowThread.aspx#6083).
So there's no telling if Microsoft will continue to support Halo 2 Vista.

I think it is better said that the HG team has "moved on" and not "no more"

well, alot of the team has moved on (to new things), but...well I'll let bum explain it if he really wants

Well if it'll make you happy then I'll edit the title to be less misleading.
Nevermind, I can't >.<

I think this gives us free passage to open up everything there is to open up or fix ourselfs. There is no support so we gotta do things ourselfs.

That would actually be really cool. You guys could put everything you ever wanted in Halo 2 to actually be there.

now we just need korn to release his h4xed editing kit.

Kornman00

oh yeah, that thing...

I have no motivation to, no one seems to even care about the game, let alone modding it :/

Though I would like to see NMC ported, or port The Engine Room :v

No one cares about the game because of the lack of mod tools. You release the hack then the above might change.

Kornman00

I released a beta to test the waters yet I see no real increase in activity, nor any real bug reports for it...

Vicky
November 6th, 2007, 04:24 PM
I use it, and the things i do with it work just fine.
Yet, we have the custom map issue. If we can disable the download feature on the server then custom maps can be hosted and then i would, at some time, release stuff too.

I would have... a lot of interest in playing/modding this game if the major control bugs were fixed (mouse acceleration, crouching), button glitches were removed (honestly how hard could that possibly be?), the performance was improved, and Live got taken out. Hell I would even settle for just the first two, but since no one at corporate obviously gives a shit about what could have been a major PC game, I don't see why the players should give a shit either. I've spent a lot of time trying to warn people off Halo 2 Vista, it's just that bad. And the thing is, the problems it has are all very simple! ._.

supersniper
November 6th, 2007, 04:34 PM
I bet there also would be a increase of players if it was available for XP. But yea no one really has an interest because of all the corporate gimmicks that Fried Metroid stated about.

Well, the release of a game is what gets people to buy a game for the most part. And then the response from that is what gets people to keep buying it or damn it. And the game can only be released once, so I think it's impossible for Halo 2 Vista to come back.

I believe Halo 2 Vista officially goes down as the worst port ever. Also it may go down as the worst community support too.

Old news, as jcap said. Also, I agree with Snowy; this game brings shame to the Halo series.

Is it really that bad? I've heard that the game hasn't done too well and that there’s been quite a bit of criticism for it, but I didn't realise that it is as bad as you guys are saying it is. I literally haven’t heard one good word about it.

Kornman00

If I was a super amazing programmer I would try to fix it up with patches for the glitches, then fix up the xp patch so online play can work then it would be more popular. Then after that I would try to make the editing kit more like Halo CE's HEK. But that is just what I would do. To bad I am not a good programmer.

Tray and Play. It might seem like a gimmick, but it works incredibly well and is something I wish would be incorporated in other games. I mean, a few days ago Jcap IM'd me saying I was needed for an uber important test of an uber secret project. I didn't have the game installed, but was in there testing less than five minutes later.

Other than that, it works, and works well enough to be played. You should be thankful it's not a Superman 64.

What? Why was it we kept getting threads about botched installations because people tried to use tray and play?

Lol, indeed... anywho, i'm gonna put some time into 'working things out'/'fixing stuff'... i've already 'fixed' one item for the server.

*perks up*

explain mb?

also u guys need to back off Korn just a bit, the man is good at what he does and has done wonders for this community, but to put this much pressure on him to basically fix everything that is wrong with H2V, the servers, the mouse acceleration, the editing kit ect. is just demanding Far to much.

Untill u guys can give him a hand or do it yourselves i wouldnt come to him asking for him to fix it.

just back off a bit k.

I'll pm some trustable hosts about the 'X damnation'.

Syuusuke
November 6th, 2007, 09:48 PM
=D =D

People who randomly delay are perky assholes...but there's one other annoying thing that could keep the server from starting and it doesn't include "Press X to Delay", not saying, and I don't do it, unless it's my server =D

I wish clients could do something about the 'X damnation' besides yelling the hell out of the doer until he/she stops/leaves.

I want to know too!

I still wouldn't say it worked "incredibly well."

kenney001
November 6th, 2007, 11:34 PM
zeph was one of the luckies who had it work correctly for him.

I dont really care all that much anyway. H2v is already an outdated game, and modding CE is alot easier/faster/more fun with a larger community. If i wanted a new game to mod i would have moved to source. But at the moment i am occupied with NFS PS, HL2OB, Cryisis, COD4, and some others....

You mean how can they patch it if it was taken care of before release?

It hasn't been patched.

It was a stupid idea to begin with. How could they possibly hope to pull something like this off without anyone having problems? They at least could have put a warning somewhere on the box saying

WARNING: Tray and Play feature may cause installation problems for some users. If you are unsure, or you encounter errors after installation, uninstall and choose the "Customize Game Install" option instead.
