u need a better ratio of Seeders : Leechers.

after a few hours and u climb the List the speed should pick up.

You need more seeders than leechers in order to get any decent speed in most cases.

Best thing to do is search torrents based on seeders, the one with the most is usually the best to get. If you can't find one with at least a 1.1< ratio then just sit tight and wait.

This thread sure isn't a violation of the rules...As torrent clients can be used for non illegal means, this thread is not against any of our rules. For all I know he's downloading the most recent video off Gamersyde. As soon as one of you kids mentions using a Torrent program to download something illegally this thread will be closed, you will be one month banned, and I will eat some apple pie.

Rawk-on -- Pie > Cake.

Anyway... yea, there's a lot of clients -- you just may be connecting to the bad ones.

Also your firewall could be in the way... try enabling uPnP if you have a torrent client which supports it. I don't know which ones do... but be careful with uPnP due to viruses and stuff.

Try going into the settings and changing to listen port to something like mine: 52772

I get about as high as my shitty connection can handle, so it's bound to work great.

I don't think which the port matters.

It may say 3000 seeds, but not all of them are online at the same time. I live in the Pacific time zone area, so the seeders usually congregate when I'm asleep (if I torrent, which is rare, I leave my desktop on overnight).

I have gotten as high as 500 kbps when I torrent from the other side of the globe, though.

To further improve download speed, just close any background apps that require Internet connectivity (instant message, folding @ home, etc).

And please make sure you are not illegally torrenting games, unless you own the legal game and want to make a backup ISO in case the disc is lost or damaged. I have done this a few times on my laptop to avoid having to use the slow-and-battery-draining optical drive.

For me, I honestly don't care how long it takes, as long as it's within the next few days.

Go into your preferences for whatever app you're using, check the upload and listen ports. Go into your router's control page and find the forwarding section, forward these ports under their respective TCP or UDP labels. Check the internal IP your computer's on (192.168.1. x ) and input that into the forwarding page alongside the ports. Hit apply, and it should work. If not, check your forwarding or google some good ports to switch to.
