I've been going for the Legendary achievement recently, and havn't had any real problems until the Prophet Of Regret, no matter what I do, I can't seem to get past him, any tips anyone?
Edit: I know I have to board him just having some problems with the guards.

Board him like your boarding a wrath then hit your melee button to smack him.
Pretty lame fight honestly.

I know I have to board him but there are neverending elites and after boarding him about 2-3 times I usually get killed by the ones with plasma rifles.

The elites have unlimited spawns, so don't waist time mindlessly shooting at them until you get close to regret. The grunts generally aren't a problem, and the elites with swords can be dodged (if your playing on legendary you should know how to). Anyway, enter the room with either a Battle Rifle or Carbine, a full clip should last the round if you take head shots, as well as a plasma pistol (obvious). When you board regret your basically invisible until you get off, the only problem is that when you get off your right in the middle of a group of elites and grunts with the sole desire to swipe your head from its shoulders. And here's where the trick is.
Remember how the AI spawns in groups, and the next group doesn't spawn until the one before it is nearly taken out. So, noob combo most of the elites (the ones you find the most threatening at the time first). However, leave at least one elite and a few grunts left in their ranks (so as not to trigger another respawn). Jump onto regret with your plasma pistol, and when you get off charge it up and eliminate the remaining elite and grunt that are blocking your progress. Repeat the process about four times and you should have no problem. It was a pain in the ass for me until I got it too.

Well at that point you're almost there. I think he goes crazy at the end and thats the hardest part. Or maybe i'm thinking of Sonic the Hedgehog. lol.
Get ready because there are many harder battles.
Go get the book if your having that much trouble beating him. Skill and patience is the only way to beat the game in Legendary.
It was hard as hell.

Don't run straight into the room, and don't try to snipe the enemies, they are infinite. Always stay along the edges, and get really good with the plasma pistol + battle rifle. That's what I did. Took me about 4 boards to kill him.

After about 15 minutes of constantly slaughtering elites, you are just left with respawning grunts, although that may not help in your situation :d I found that a plasma rifle + battle rifle combo is excellent for this part too. Make sure you board him as fast as you can after he teleports somewhere, to get maximum punch-age out of him.

You dont have to beat every level on legendary do you? I thought you just have to beat the great journey on it to get the achievement.

I think it keeps records of every level you beat on Legendary and you have to beat all of them to get the achievement, but just to be safe, I'm playing the whole thing on Legendary in order.

get the rocket launcher earlier, and sword too. Kill the elites and board him as often as you can. Thats it, but he pretty hard in leg.

Isn't the max amount of rockets you can get from the gondola like 7?

what on earth for, the plasma rifle takes forever to get down an elites shields
and by that time, a dual plasma rifle elite could have killed you three times :raise:

lol, i remember when i first got halo 2, i had no clue how to kill him. I eventually was still left on that ledge with one plasma pistol and 1 respawning grunt every few seconds, then i got pissed a charged up to him :) thats when i figured out how to beat him

You should turn up your TV volume - even on Legendary, Cortana eventually says "board his chair" exasperatedly. But yeah I had no clue how to kill him - I rocketed his chair, threw frag grenades, and sliced him with the energy sword.
I found the energy sword the best weapon, since there was basically an infinite supply of swords from dead elites. The PP-BR combo worked well too, but since I'm not that good at aiming with a gamepad (and thus I suck at headshotting on a gamepad), I preferred the sword.

Trying to kill elites on legendary is suicide, or that's what happened to me when I did that. If I slash him, he won't die in 1 hit, but if he melees me on legendary (sword or no sword, doesn't matter), I die at once.

thats why u get to the maximum lunge distance. the physics of the game cause the elite to fly back and now hit u even if he swings his sword.
^^very helpful for IWHBYD^^
