Ok so Im building a PC very soon, yes I know Penryn is coming out soon, and the possible new video cards next year but I can live without Penryn for a year, and a video card all I want is Crysis really.

Anywho so far, I have

Ive been looking at mobos but I cant choose one, Im looking and looking but cant find much :(

I find one but then I find out the video card cannot fit in that enclosed space, and Im being told that black PCI-E Slots are 4x not 16x. After a bit of research in the specs I find out this is true, so now Im looking for blue PCI-E slots which are the true 16x?

HELP MEE.

EDIT: If the card wont support Crysis at full settings can I SLI two 8600s for full settings on crysis?

I thought 16x PCI-e slots were black...I didn't know there was a color code.

I also now need a PSU that has that many PCI-E pins/plugs and that can handle all that power.

That motherboard is fine for two 8800's, and I can't really help you on the power supply.

ahh, so I should just wait till Dec.3? Is that going to be better than the "Ultras"? And will it be PCI-E 16x? or PCI-E 2.0?

Ok So if PCI-E 2.0 is now better, and going to get popular, should I just stick with the X38 chipsets and get a PCI-E 2.0?

I hear PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCI-E 16x is this true?

PCI-E 2.0 is backwards and forwards compatible with PCI-E 1.1.

Also, if you want to save some money get two 8800GT SSC's (http://www.evga.com/products/moreinfo.asp?pn=512-P3-N806-A1&family=19) they outperform the 8800GTS and cost less.

And if your getting 4 GB of ram, make sure you dont have vista 32 bit.

No, you must use 64bit for 4GB+ ram, or else you get constant BSODS.

Also, yes you can use a PCI-E 2.0 card on a regular PCI-E x16 slot. And vise versa.

thats what I have so far, will the PSU Processor pin work with the Processor Pin on the mobo?

As long as there are multiple 16x PCI-e slots (or PCI-e 2.0 slots), SLI and Crossfire will work. SLI Nvidia cards can work on a Crossfire motherboard, but not vice versa.

It looks like the PSU processor pin will work with the mobo, but I'm not sure, so see if someone else can verify.

I'm using a 4-pin PSU connector on a 8-pin mobo. If it has at least 12V you are in business I think.

Colors of the interface connectors are unregulated for all that. They might be yellow, or blue or red or black, you need to see the physical slots dimensions to be sure. Its sort of like how the color of memory slots are all different too.
