Any car tycoons on the forums? I know I am. Post and discuss your favorite car and or concept car.

I'll start off with the prototype concept car, Chevy Volt.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/41/Chevrolet-Volt-DC.jpg
I love the design of the grill and the headlights. The Volt project is only a year old, started in 2006 and was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show January 1, 2007. Along with the Chrysler Nassau I'm hoping this goes to mass production.

Another favorite of mine is, of course, the Chrysler Crossfire.
http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-2005/2005-Startech-Chrysler-Crossfire-Roadster-Coupe-1280x960.jpg
The Crossfire is the spiritual successor of the Prowler. The Prowler was significant in the fact it was reminiscent of the sports cars in the early twentieth century, however initial and total sales were not that great. Personally, I plan to buy one in the future if production keeps up.

I hate most cars that are made by the Big Three American automobile companies. We've rented cars from all of them (GM, Chrysler, Ford) and they were all horrible. Not because of interior comfort, but because they were loud, unstable, and just not fun to drive. I can see why Toyota is the best-selling car company in the world now - economically conscious drivers would rather buy a Toyota Corolla than a Ford or a Chevrolet, and rich men would rather drive a Lexus than a Cadillac. I totally remember a trip to New York where we rented a Cadillac that broke down 2 hours after we got it. Speaking of Toyota, I might get a Hybrid Camry or an Avalon as my first car :O

My favorite car is this: The BMW 760 Li

http://www.rsportscars.com/foto/09/bmw760li06.JPG

This car is basically a professional athlete wearing a formal business suit. It's a stately and large executive car that's also capable of delivering high performance. While it probably loses out to the BMW M5 and the 3.2L Z4 roadster, it's still one bloody powerful engine.

But hey, this car owns all:

I have a better idea before this thread goes from, "Post your favorite car," to, "Post the dumbest-looking piece of shit you've seen that you think looks awesome." Why don't we post the cars that we own? And when I say "own," I mean the car you bought with your own money, not daddy's, or not the car your grandfather gave you either.

My dad just gave me his car, and it happens the car I've always wanted. Dunno about others taste on it, but Chevy Berettas are hot imo. Absolutely made my day coming home from visiting my cousin to have this waiting for me. I just got it insured yesterday. I'll most likely drive this one until it dies, and buy another nicer one, probably a newer model too. This ones a 1990 base model. Also, I only got this car because my grandma passed away in the spring, and her car was passed onto my dad. I'm also very appreciative of it, and since it was my dads baby it is now my baby. I bought him a 26 of crown royal to say thanks. First pic is me with my car, other pics are on my wish list of possible modifications when I buy a newer one.

You spend thousands on repairs.

Mr Buckshot
November 23rd, 2007, 02:27 AM
I don't like these high-performance small sports cars. Anyway, that extra horsepower is pretty much useless on civilian roads, because of traffic laws. I mean, the Bugatti Veyron's 1001-hp W18 engine is impressive, but it can't be used to its full potential unless it's on a race track or it's doing something illegal. Plus the fuel economy gets worse. Sure, you might find a deserted parking lot and then start zooming around, but where's the fun in that?

If you live in Germany, though, you can churn out the power of these high performance vehicles on the Autobahn. But anywhere else, your extra-expensive engine pretty much goes to waste since you won't be traveling at over 90 mph. You can accelerate to such "low" velocities in less time than other cars can, but it's only a few seconds of difference. Unless being able to go from 0 to 60 in half the time of your neighbor's car matters that much to you, a high performance engine won't be very practical. And from what I hear, some of these high performance vehicles like Lamborghinis demand super premium gas at the pumps, which is another burden. Ok, I guess that if you can afford a Lamborghini, the higher gas price means nothing, but still...

We Asians value a comfortable interior ride over fast performance. Not to say that I don't like nice engines, but as long as my car doesn't feel sluggish when accelerating, I'm happy. My dad's car has a huge 4.6L V8 engine because that's the only option available, but he'd still be satisfied with only a 3.0L engine pulling his car.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y259/Varmint264/1994ChevroletAstroMine-1.jpg

No, not the black ford pickup with the lift kit in the background, I really DO own the grey Astro van. It wasn't a lot of money considering the mileage and condition though. The spoiler and windshield visor were on it when I bought it. I am getting the spoiler removed 'cause... let's face it, a SPOILER on a soccer mom van? No way.

It's not that slow, though. It's only a chev 4.3L V6, but it's amazing how easily it reaches 100mph for big square box flying through the air with a stock engine. And, when I drive it slow, 26mpg highway. It's really quite a versatile rig for my purposes.

And now, for the vehicle I wish I had...

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y259/Varmint264/1970PontiacGTOOrbitOrangeStock.jpg

1970 Pontiac GTO, similar to the one my Dad used to own. It's always been my dream to get one of these and restore it, but since the GTO is such a sought-after car, to find one in driveable condition is minimum 12 grand and I have thus far been unable to find one that's in less than driveable condition. It'll be a struggle, for sure.

All you people have some cool-lookin' exteriors on your vehicles, with some pretty good engines to boot.

Heh, my parents' cars are more renowned for their interiors than for their exteriors or engines. But the Audi we have can double as a high performance sports car thanks to its 4.2L engine and aerodynamic frame.

Does anyone here feel like driving a hybrid car? I want a Toyota Prius or a Camry hybrid for my first car (I turn 16 in December). These cars are roomy, comfortable, environmentally friendly, and have great fuel economy.

Heck, the only thing stopping my dad from changing his car to the Lexus LS 600h L is my mom's sternness, because in Canada, the hybrid version can cost double that of the standard version.

Lmao, that's the Nissan skyline GTR R35(or R36). It will be sold in the U.S. as the Nissan skyline and not some shitty Infiniti.

Honestly, shut up, you know nothing about this topic.

http://www.nissanusa.com/gt-r/

Nissan GTR, not skyline mentioned at all.

In Japan, the Infiniti G35 is knowns as the Nissan Skyline 350GT, as Infiniti is a US only brand. Therefore, the Infiniti G37, which is the successor to the Skyline in Japan (The G35), is the new Skyline.

Do some research, then try to act smart.

Why do they use a completely different (and stupid) name in the US, anyway? I mean, Christ, even Vauxhall use (mostly) the same names for cars shared with Holden...

^ Same model and almost same color as my father's car.

1998 Jaguar XJR, V8 supercharged.

I haven't driven it (And never will :( ), but it is simply amazing.

Goes ridiculously fast, it's quiet, comfortable, smooth, and turns very nicely.

I LOVE it.

I wonder what happens when it hits anything going over 40MPH.
when you've got enough money to Buy one of those things, chances are u dont need to worry about the cost of a small ding or a scratch.

I was referring to where hitting anything with that car over 40MPH is going to leave a lot more then just a ding or a scratch.

In terms of interior, nothing can beat this car:

http://www.automotoportal.com/media/images/vijesti/060711010.5.jpg

Maybach 62 (armored). This car is meant to be chauffeur driven. It's as protective as a bank vault and requires a bank vault full of money for purchase.

On the inside, there's enough legroom for the seats to turn into fully flat beds (The Maybach 57 model can also do this, but only short people can lie down without bending their legs). There are wooden tables, a fridge, two widescreen TVs with satellite tuners, built-in cell phones that borrow your SIM card, built-in PS2, panoramic glass roof, etc...the list goes on. It's basically a private jet without wings.

More like your next-of-kin wouldn't need to worry.

Also, fun fact:

Maybach produced engines for the Panzer V (Panther) during WWII. :hist101:

Actually, now I come to think of it, a Panther would be awesome. But there's only one left in drivable condition, so I guess I'll have to settle for a T-34. Plenty of them around http://sa.tweek.us/emots/images/emot-q.gif
