Alright, I'm going to ask for a monitor for Christmas as financial issues have prevented me from buying my own. I would like some help identifying a monitor for my needs.

First off, I'll mainly be using this monitor for gaming and media stuff (videos and the like). However, I also do quite a bit of work in Photoshop and Premiere, etc, etc...

Second, I want a 24" monitor thats 1080p capable (at least 1920 x 1200 resolution). Nothing bigger or smaller. As well as a fairly low response time.

I'm currently looking at the Acer (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10094087&catid=) or the Samsung SyncMaster (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10086756&catid=) on this page:
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/subclass.asp?err=1&catid=25616&page=0&sort=0&logon=&langid=EN

I'm hoping to stick to that price range. I like the Samsung more because generally Samsung is better then Acer, however. Acer has a 2ms response time on its side, I like that...

Anyhow, could you guys narrow it down? Or give me a better monitor for close to the same price, or cheaper (I can get the Samsung for cheaper from my local Memory Express (http://www.memoryexpress.com), so I'll do that if thats the one I choose)?

Thanks in advance!

Hey, you're Canadian too!

Those Futureshop 24" monitors look expensive.

Try NCIX:

If you live near the states, you can open a PO box down below, order from Newegg, and try to smuggle it past border checkpoints.

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX16998(ME).aspx uses a far superior true 8-bit panel, and has more inputs.

I'm not really that close to the states Buckshot. I can get pretty much any monitor from Memory Express, regardless of it being listed or not. They're basically a warehouse direct price store, the newegg of Canada imho.

As for that LG Innergoat, I don't need a USB hub on my monitor, or a ton of inputs ;). Thanks for the sugestion though!

So far I have one person saying that the Samsung is better, and one for the Acer... Snaf is awesome, paladin is an average forum user... I'd go for the Acer with those odds.

You'd be getting the LG for the better color reproduction and proper gradients, but that may not be necessary for what you do.

I'd go for the Acer.

I find it amazing that your relatives will pay for something that expensive, even as a christmas gift.

Try this place (http://www.logicbuy.com/searchresults.aspx?searchterms=monitors). It shows great pricing on the monitors, most of them are about 22" and support 1920x1200.

the majority of 22" monitors are 1680x1050, not 1920x1200.
