so I've just had some trouble starting CE :|

Windows XP was re-installed yesterday, but before I did that, I backed up my maps folder to an untouched hard disk.

I reinstalled CE today, and plonked my old maps folder over the new one.

now I get this error when i go to run CE:
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l183/n00b1n8R/debuggertrouble.jpg

help?that's what I posted at halomaps, they suggested I re-install.

after re-installing, I'm still getting the same problem. I havn't installed halo PC yet if that's relevent.

E: i reinstalled CE, not windows incase anyone was confused.

Are you running any programs with Halo CE? (Try -safemode...)

does xfire count? I'll try running it without (though it's never caused issues before..)

turn off Xfail, it probably had another update which fucked something up.

n00b1n8R
December 3rd, 2007, 09:11 PM
not xfail (I tried without), but a guy at the halomaps forums suggested this (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812759)which I'll try in a minute.

Could be a virus...do you have a virus software? BitDefender is partially free now. :awesome:

PS: Warez crack the debugger part. Now count 2+2 together...

Since recently it's even illegal to do it yourself.

But I guess you know what your last option is.

Show us the process list...maybe I can compare it to the other one.

I miss halo :(

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\mdm.exe

Try killing that process. I have it running and can run Halo, but give it a try anyway. If no change in result, re-run it.

e: Also:

C:\Program Files\PC-TV\WinManager\WinManager.exe'

What is that?

that's the digital TV program, it runs in the background.

halo still didn't work, after killing both of those, so no luck there.

this time I tried to run halo, closed the window and did the scan:

Hmm. I don't see anything rasing a red flag in my head.

Try killing the MSSQL writer.
Try killing your keyboard software.
Try killing ZoneAlarm (temporarily).

So dad was stuffing around last night, trying to speed up bootup by disabling some things from loading on startup and he suggested I give halo a go to see if it made any difference.

It fucking well did :D

he dissabled Itunes helper (though the trouble occoured before I installed itunes, so it's not that), QTTask, Adobe reader speed launch, and adobe reader syncroniser. thanks for all your help anyways ;)

I think someone needs to either make a high-res version of that smiley or make it a vector.
