argh wtf cant install hl2 because i dont have enough room

wtf, i try and install hl2 from the disk (no way in hell im wasting my time dling it) and there isnt enough free disc space to run steam. I already have steam installed of course, and its vista (i just set it up today, sexiest piece of machinery ever--my HD3870 BARELY fit and almost obscured my SATA ports!) and everything has been smooth, even vista, up until this point. I wanna play insurgency, dammit >:|

wow, that was retarded. I just copied the entire contents of the cd (because i thought it was trying to install the game in the directory that the installer was in--which was a full CD) and i was right. It installed. Gah.
