Every time I make a sphere/geosphere in max, convert it to mesh and attach it to my level, tool gives me an error stating that my bsp is too deep :(. Is there a way to make a sphere without this happening.

tool doesnt like spheres.

if you want a sphere in your map, use it as scenery, or a low-poly geosphere.
couldnt do spheres in halo1, and can't do em in halo2 either.

I though we couldn't make scenery for halo 2?

you can't?
well then you're stuck with the low-poly geosphere.

Wait, bsp is too deep? What? I am confused and annoyed by this error. I haven't had occasion to use a sphere myself, but I can't see any reason why it wouldn't let you. Is there no other reason than "tool just doesn't like spheres"?

i know you couldn't do it in CE for some unapparant reason, the issue must have perpetuated into h2v

Sure you can make a sphere:

Reduce the number of segments, default for a sphere is 32 i've tried it on 16 and that works. If it's the same as CE i think you could up it to 20 or 24... just try.

Make a hole in the sphere and give it a thickness.

vicky, i'm not so sure that's the same sphere we are talking about. anyways, halo 1 did have problems with spheres, but i thought it was fixed in halo 2 because of the hidden soccer ball in the new mombasa level...mb not though.

What spheres are you talking about? The ones with 8 corners and 6 flat surfaces???

Those in my previous post are bsp-spheres and you can go higher with the segmentcount, 24 works too. It looks like a sphere, it feels like a sphere and it smells like a sphere... hmm, i wonder what it is.

If it post like a noob, models like a noob, i wonder what it is. Vicky, there are a few different types of spheres as far as max goes.

It generally doesn't like floating objects unless they have some interior like pat said. You can get collision grossness, etc.

The whole BSP floats anyway... somewhere, a long time ago in a ... lets make a star warzy level :P

I finally got it working, I did it like Vicky said.

Don't mind the texture in game, the shader for the globe is not finished yet.
