As many of you know, I recently got a new car: A 1981 white Pontiac Firebird. It runs great, and I can finally show those ricers what for. But what only one of you knows is how and why I got the car.

A friend of mine knew a guy that was trying to sell this back in October, and I wanted it, but my parents said, "No, you have a car that looks fine. Also, insurance."

Then one day about two weeks ago, I was fooling around on the freeway at 3 in the morning with a friend. I had learned a neat trick, and I wanted to see if it would work. I got up to 60 miles per hour, put it into neutral, and revved the car as I shut off the engine (my car was kinda shitty, so I could shut off the car while in neutral). According to my friend, a huge jet of flame shot out my exhaust, and I felt that from the driver's seat. Then, the car suddenly felt lighter and I heard a clatter. I slammed on the brakes and looked back.

There was my muffler. I wanted to keep it to show you guys, but my dad made me take it to the junkyard. It was all scorched at the tip and was too hot to touch for a while. The mechanic said it was about 3 grand to repair, which was way too much. So I pointed the $400 Firebird out to my parents, and I drove it home this very afternoon. She's a beaut, runs smoothly, and drives like you wouldn't expect an American car to.

So what do you guys think I should name my new car?

E: Just to clear things up, I'm paying for the car in installments, plus 25%.

Does it have the firebird on the hood? It's not a real firebird unless it has one. :P

Wow man, sort of reminds me of when I had to get a new car a year ago. I can't remember what my older car was but it had over 100,000 miles on it. We had to get repairs on the thing like 5 or so times.. Then it started to over heat. After about 2 or 3 overheatings later, we finally took the car in and exchanged it for a Honda Civic 2005. While it doesn't have electric doors and all, it runs perfectly. Although three weeks later I got into a car crash in a parking lot and I had to take it in for repairs haha. It's been fine ever since. Been the best car I've ever had. :)

I would've kept the Camry if I were you...Toyotas (including Lexus) make up for their lack of styling with superior reliability and smooth rides. I'd never buy an automobile from the Big 3 U.S. companies unless it were a Cadillac Escalade or a Jaguar (owned by Ford). My parents have rented many vehicles from them while on vacation in the U.S. or other parts of Canada, and they've all been shit, including a Pontiac Grand Am. and lawl at how a Cadillac we rented broke down 2 hours after we drove it out of the parking lot.

Name your car Phoenix (it is a Firebird, after all).

You pay for a $400 car in installments? Are you sure you didn't make a typo and really meant $4000?

Mens cars have girls names, it's just the way it works. Also, you should name it yourself. And another also, domestic cars to me are worth the cost of having a cooler car, regardless of repairs (if you know how to baby a car properly, then it isn't so much a problem anyways).

Call it Bob anyway, so you can reference the Enzyte commercials.

"Nice car!"
"This... this is Bob. Bob is doing well."

Ok, this is why I'm losing faith in humanity.

People really are fucking clueless about what happens in the world.

I'm one broke motherfucker.

Also, try the Ford Escort/Focus/Fusion. They really took some hints from the Japanese, and these cars are the best American cars I have ever driven.

Oh I get it. I found it weird because our PCs and gaming consoles all cost at least $400 when we got them, and I don't think anyone pays for those in installments. But good job. $4000 - a lot of us, including me, probably need loans, etc. $400 - I'd have expected that if any of us wanted to buy something for $400, we'd pay it all at once.

I saw pics of the car on google images, looks cool but...at 26 years old, you might want to be careful.

Name it Phoenix :O

I'm set to get my mom's old 1993 (I think) Ford Escort hatchback (stick shift) when she gets a new car. It has like 300,000 miles on it but still goes even though it has been through 2 transmissions and many other parts.

Also, call your car Bob.
I Drove bob long and hard today.
We went on a bit of a ride to see how fast we could get. Unbelievable the amount of speed we where moving and the Friction we got from the Black top, until he ran outta gas and just coasted to a stop.

Driving Bob just isnt the same as Driving Julia.
