Deutschland schaltet das Licht aus
Bundesweite Klima-Aktion am 8. Dezember (http://www.presseportal.de/pm/56001/1086376/bild/)
I'll try to summarize/translate the vital part:
"Tonight (8th December, 20:00 - 20:05 (-6 for EST)) Germany, in cooperation with BILD, Bund, WWP, Greenpeace, Google and ProSieben, will turn off all the lights to show protest for the national and international climate prevention."
I think it's amazing that a country manages to do this. What do you think? Would you participate if you could?
Also, for the technical part...it's actually a waste of energy and resources since the major energy companies like E-On announced that this artificial power outage can destroy some sensitive equipment.

Hah thats cool, if your doing something electronic in that shutoff time.. well I'd say your screwed :]
So it's only going down for about 5 minutes?

Nothing here, move along now.

Meh its a signal nothing more nor less.
I got this strange feeling that this whole lets-save-our-climate attitude is slowly fading into untrendyness. After all we, the folks who live in industrialised countries, wont be too affected by the impacts of climate change. and srsly, who gives a flying shit about the starving farmer in congo? social darwinism ftw!

5 minutes is nothing. Most people would be outside doing some kind of activity and by the time you came back, the power would be back and you wouldn't even know it was gone.

CRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPP! All this global warming crap. Really the Earth cools and warms natuarlly; we wont all die because the polar ice caps will melt. If you libs don't have anything better to do than to complain, why don't you get rid of all the illegal immigrants because I don't want to have to pay for 'em with my dang taxes. And if I'm wrong who cares I have beach front property.
