Soz i should really provide some explanation. this test is intendet to be, um yeah a political compass. some of my colleagues have been trying it and were actually surprised to see that this test actually didnt coincide with their political self conception. some ef them who considered themselves moderate conservatives found themselves in the leftist/liberal area while those who thought of themselves as liberal persons found themselves quite close to the merkel-area.

i though that was a bit intresting.:)

Well, I guess I agree with it. It said I was a libertarian communist, which is true. Some of the questions were a little hard to decide on though...
Economic Left/Right: -8.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.62
No centralized government, socialist economy, etc.
I find it interesting that Karl Marx isn't listed on the one plot they show. He'd be a far-left liberal as well (having "invented" socialism but not being power hungry - also "dictatorship of the <working class>", so I'd say non-centralized government there...)

Well, those self-proclaimed conservatives were probably rated as liberals because this test is (probably) using the standards of the classic liberal, not the modern liberal. =p

Also,

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.28

Technically, yes, but it's using the "true" meaning of "liberal".

Are you for against the use of force to ensure your economic beliefs are upheld? If you're for force (war, punishment), you're like Hitler. If you believe a peaceful route to your economic needs can be achieved, you're like Gandhi. When I first learned a little bit "more" about Gandhi, I felt a "connection" with him in regards to economic and political beliefs.

And yet you still came out highly liberal...

Have you noticed how everyone is coming out liberal in both categories? I know I am very conservative, yet this says I'm liberal? My mom took a similar test and came out with the same thing. It said she was liberal and yet we're conservative...

I'm not one for conspiracies but it almost seems like these surveys all point people towards liberalism, maybe trying to buy some of those middle votes of people who don't know which side their on... I have to say, it's actually quite ingenious... but it's just a thought.

Wow, I'd figure I'd be one of the most leftist dudes here. I'm pretty well a free hippy.

Its registered to a dude by the name of "Jonathan Pagel" -- there's a Jonathan Pagel who does a lot of Javascript and Java programming here (http://jpagel.net/) so I could assume that is him.
