One thing to note, THIS IS NOT EXTRACTED FROM HALO 3, NO MATTER WHAT HDoan SAYS!
http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u27/foxymccloud/MPod.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u27/foxymccloud/MPod2.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u27/foxymccloud/MPod3.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u27/foxymccloud/MPod5.jpg
I still think it needs something, besides a texture. Any suggestions?

not that i've played halo 3, but it looks pretty nice...the front is bad though
The handle is on the wrong side. Some of those extrusions are the wrong size
missing detail in some areas oh and the smoothing seems bad to me. hey post a clay render it'll look better.
take a look:

don't believe it's your model. prove me wrong.
checking it out further, there's too much wrong with it to be a rip. doesn't mean that it's not your model, though. could be made by some other neophyte @ halomaps or something.

There's nobody else on HaloMaps with a missile pod.

I agree Tweek, a good smoothing tutorlial would help a lot of people :)

dude anyone who needs a TUTORIAL on smoothing doesnt deserve to use any sort of 3d application.
1 smoothes to 1, 2 smoothes to 2, 1 doesn't smooth to 2.
i can't imagine anyone needing a tutorial when you know that!

well considering people still have trouble with it, I imagine they do.
and what happens when you smooth to 1 and 2? you of all people should know that a lot of the community suck with smoothing, and that a simple tutorial can work wonders for even seeminly simple things (eg, mass's cliff tut). why not?

TBH I didn't understand smoothing until it was explained in a tutorial. I thought those little numbered boxes were like "levels of smooth" rather than (as their name implies...) smoothing GROUPS

Things to fix:
-smoothing errors
-There are parts that look like it was a separate model, makes it look kinda ugly.
-Would like to see a wireframe shot.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u27/foxymccloud/WireframePod.jpgHere's the wire frame. I've brought the front part out a bit (pictures come with more updates). I need to make all the separate parts connect (how should I go about doing this?). I've worked on the smoothing errors in this one, not that you can see them. :P
By the way, Omega, Nice avatar, made me LoL when I first saw it.

So much poly wastage. =\ You need to allocate your detailing to the places where it needs to be. God damn, those extrusions have way too many polys (in the back) WASTER!

You're one to speak, havoc. I say it looks good, just needs some refinement. I'm waiting to see your updated version in a clay render. :)

HORRIBLE poly distribution. basically...start over...except plane model (http://www.moddb.com/tutorials/23868/beretta-9000-video-tutorial) it.

The missile does not come from that extruded cross piece either.
Look at this pod:
http://lh5.google.com/terminatorazhar/Rz7luvJwniI/AAAAAAAAAow/Sr8bp7pX3k4/UB32%20Rocket%20Pod.jpg?imgmax=200
The H3 Missile pod works like that one, it comes out of the tubes on the cone structure, not the middle part.

lmao. and i have a missile pod too. granted it is horrible and lacks detail and just needs to be done over. for some reason i cant stand plane modeling. i find it annoying to work with although i do use it for making small parts on guns and floors on bsps

you don't have to know how to model to say something looks good or bad. you have to know how to model in order to tell them how and why it's not good.

except not >_> or horribly executed.

NuggetWarmer
December 14th, 2007, 06:31 AM
I changed the front cross part , took away some unnecessary details + polygons, moved some pieces around to make it more accurate, and made the back area shorter. I'm trying to keep it low-polygon. If you want something to change you've got to be more specific. I did what you said for the smoothing groups, and I changed the cross part. What else does it need? You've got to be more specific.

So...there are holes in it now?...Cause, from the past 2 or 3 pages of posts, that's what they've been trying to tell you =\
It would make everything loook better if you added the holes in on the model...Still needs a lot of work, but it's looking good. :)
